Katmandu Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I am suffering low GPU load that I feel leads to low fps. Isn't GPU supposed to run at near 100% in DCS? Mine runs at 50-60% with occasional spikes into 70s, and fps is markedly lower than I remmeber it being a while back using the same ingame settings that I've not changed in years. Any thoughts? My system is 8700K, 1080ti, 16Gb, Oculus CV1. The GPU has no problem running at 100% in benches etc.
Sniper175 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 No man it’s just the way it is with dcs world when you get into scenes that murder the cpu. No fix for it unless they build a new engine that uses all cpu cores properly. I7-8700 @5GHZ, 32GB 3000MHZ RAM, 1080TI, Rift S, ODYSSEY +. SSD DRIVES, WIN10
Katmandu Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 (edited) But then I read these other posts and people were getting 100% GPU loads, plus this vid - 100% GPU is the norm with decent CPUs https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3323054&postcount=13 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=202239 Edited May 21, 2019 by Katmandu
Sniper175 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 (edited) Depends on the SCENE. Go fly away from buildings and trees you have great numbers fly over a city cpu gets its ass kicked. In Vr it’s the way it is until they fix it. In vr it’s working double what it is for pancake screens. Hence cpu gets killed in vr weather it’s cities or ai or whatever you throw in. Compensate by crappy settings and low draw distance.... Edited May 21, 2019 by Sniper175 I7-8700 @5GHZ, 32GB 3000MHZ RAM, 1080TI, Rift S, ODYSSEY +. SSD DRIVES, WIN10
Katmandu Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Excuse me everybody I was being a massive plonker. At some point I've accidentally ticked Vsync and for some reason it decided to work in VR. Vsync unchecked and I have 0ver 45 fps and GPU load spiking towards 90%. I'm happy again :)
Harlikwin Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Glad you figured that out. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
ShaDowz Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Hm well i have the same problem. I have a Rtx 2080Ti and a i9 9900k. I use 25% of my cpu and 55-60% of my gpu. Even have the gpu slightly overclocked and all power settings on max. And i don't have vsynk checked and get pretty low fps
Harlikwin Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Have you tried the sweviewr trick with the evga x1 software? New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
ShaDowz Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Have you tried the sweviewr trick with the evga x1 software? Well i've tried but i just can't get dcs to run through only pitools. I get alot of fatal error messages and it just doesn't start, been waiting up to 15 minutes but doesn't launch. Someone else gave me advice to disable all modules that use serial numbers but that didn't work either. I tried it with steamvr and i get higher fps but also terrible ghosting that makes it unplayable
etherbattx Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Glad you figured that out. doesn’t the rift always use vsync? i thought it was part of the rift rendering pipeline and not optional.
Harlikwin Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Yeah but rift Vsync is not DCS Vsync I think. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Supmua Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I tried Sweviver's trick with my Vive Pro/2080Ti/9900k setup, zero change in FPS or GPU load. The funny thing is that the overall FPS didn't change either when I reverted back to manufacture's default OC vs my own OC which was running up to 2070 MHz.
