John Hargreaves Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 You *can* fly it with Thurstmaster throttle (inverted). But the long throw of a collective *REALLY* gives you the fine control when coming to a hover, or landing. So you don't need it, but it makes it sooooo much better when flying helos. It also gives the right type of muscle memory for the movements. Before I got a collective, I used the inverted throttle method and it worked, but the collective is much better. Also, Nope. The UH-1 throttle is a twist-grip on the collective. Usually you're only messing with it after engine start. You start off at a low RPM, engage the rotor clutch, and slowly ramp up the throttle to get the rotor RPM into the normal operating range. After that, you're pretty much all collective, cyclic, and anti-torque pedals. I thought the Huey has a governor? might be wrong there, but you don't need to change the throttle input while flying, I just assumed it had one. i7-7700K/Gigabyte RTX2080/Win10 64bit/32Gb RAM/Asus Xonar DX+Sennheiser HD380pro headphones/LG 34" UM65 @2560x1080/TM Warthog+VKB MkIV Rudder pedals/Rift CV1
