Belisarius Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Getting the hang of the whole on speed thing and landing fairly consistently. One problem, each landing and trap is accompanied with a severe rise in the nose of the jet As it catches the wire. In addition, the wire frequently is caught on the hook and I cannot detach When hook is raised. What am I doing wrong?
Revelation Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Typically one sees the nose rise up after a trap if the brakes are depressed at landing and the wire begins to pull back. For the hook to disengage from the wire you need to ensure that you run your throttle all the way up, to account for a possible bolter, then you let off of the throttle and allow the aircraft to be pulled backwards by the wire. This will allow the hook to disengage. You will now it has when the hook light lights up after a successful trap. You can then raise the hook at this time without it getting "caught." If I am stuck, I just hit the toe brakes a couple of times.
Bankler Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 If your hook gets stuck in the wire (this happens every now and then for unknown reasons), wiggle your rudder/nosewheel left and right a few times and it usually detaches quickly. Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
Swift. Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 By severe rise in the nose do you mean the E bracket shoots up, this is caused by the reverse ground effect glitch that has been known for a while. If the VVI is shooting up this might be because you are firewalling the power a little too early and it has an effect before the wire is caught. As for the wire not disengaging, you need to wait for rollback to stop then look over you sholder and wait for the wire to start moving, before pulling up the hook and moving away. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
