A freind just downloaded DCS 2.5 Open Beta so we could play together.

However, his version is 2.5.4 (and says it is up to date) and mine is 2.5.5 so we see a different of Servers in multiplayer. Why would my version be a newer version when he downloaded today and so should be the most modern version of DCS 2.5 Open Beta?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

A factor may be that He is in the USA and I am in the UK????

this is a known problem after version 2.5 both in open beta and stable (for me too). you should connect by IP and port. go to your profile in DCS website to see the list of active servers.

Sounds like he is running stable , not open beta . If he converts to open beta , it will automatically update to the latest version .

Yeah - It sounded like that to me, but when he goes to the dcs site the DCS World 2.5 Open Beta says downloaded I beleive!!!

Obviously, he is new and it’s not so easy to talk him to the same webpage as I am looking at....

If he does have Open Beta, why is it seeing only “Stable” servers???

Would you expand upon and explain what you mean by “you should connect by IP and port” please?

His connection to the internet or the server he wants to join.... etc

Because he's running stable . Simplest thing to do is download Skatezilla's update gui . It is free , and very useful for all DCS maintenance (and much else) .

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053

Immediately over the "update servers" column at the center-right is a tab "advanced update options"

Click the tab , click "update to open beta"

If that doesn't solve the problem , i'm guessing he's running Steam version of DCS . Can't help there , no experience with Steam . Time was , Steam modules and i THINK updates came later , but i am under the impression that updates at least , are timely now . Perhaps he needs to update via Steam , again , i don't know Steam .

first go to this link and login

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/server/#allservers

then copy the IP address and port of the server that you want to join

run DCS and in multiplayer screen there is button "connect by IP" top of servers list. press it and paste those IP and port like this 66.66.66.66:10308

then it will connect you to server
