aaron886 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Reddit user u/wolffan69 created an ingenious 3d printed bracket to mount the original Rift headphones to the S. It works beautifully, with all the comfort/convenience of the original design. It's hard to beat those original speakers, just enough isolation for good audio, but not so much that you can't hear yourself speak. Here's the link to the 3d printed parts. The project requires a little soldering, but nothing difficult. I recommend using zip-ties on the wires to keep them from being pulled out of the housing, and a liberal application of hot glue for extra security. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674713

I tried Shapeways, but upload gets stuck on analyzing file. Never completes. I'm totally new to this. Any help appreciated. Night Ops in the Harrier IYAOYAS
Fri13 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 It is shameful that Oculus accepted those awful integrated speakers to be set in Rift S, after CV1 had so amazing headphones. What Oculus should have demanded from Lenovo, is a Dolby Atmos quality speakers, something they can put to small smartphones and tablets, and would very well be able put them to Rift S as well for low price. Extra 30e for such speakers wouldnt be a problem. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
ignition22 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I stuck with Rift S headband sound but also play the audio in mono through room speakers. Radio chat is a little odd ill admit but having the aircraft sound come from all around you and at distance is much, much more immersive then having only on or near ear speakers.
Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 I bought wired $25 earbuds to plug into Rift S audio jack. My Corsair HS70 wireless fits well enough but they are a bit bigger. Wired SuperLux HD 681B also fits well enough.
