Dav IRL Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I think it’s a performance drain, lighting, when you turn on cockpit lights you can hear the GPU spoil up a notch so in order to keep performance the lighting is drastically reduced in terms of its brightness and spread. OttoPus Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Night lightning need some work with no doubt. One step at a time, hopefully we'll get there soon.
Zeagle Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I for one love night missions. That is one of the reasons I decided to run my own server. And yes the Su-25 cockpit is very dim. So dim, in fact, that the HSI is almost not useable. As a pilot myself, I know that VFR night navigation is easy because you can usually see so much farther than in the daytime. Small towns and cities alike are very visible. Runway lights are directional now days, but still blindingly bright. DCS needs work in this department for sure. I hope that ED decides to re-visit the lowly Su-25 and the lighting issue in general. I love flying sorties at night. I especially love flying night sorties in the Su-25T. The Ravens (Su-25T) own the night by the way :)
KTFBGB Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Op have you adjusted your gamma settings higher? Have you done the advanced monitor setup through your video card? I know night visuals can be improved, significantly, but my nights are not as bad as what you are showing.
simapajik Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Yes. I agree ZEAGLE. dcs lighting no nothing to do with the graphics card settings .. the monitor image may be lighter or darker. this also allows gamma settings in the graphical section of the Dcs world settings. but it does not solve the lighting problem. then send us the gamma and monitor settings as you type here and show it a significant improvement. I like to learn and set up. thank you very much. <White Tiger> [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Emmy Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 You should be able to see the Las Vegas strip from 50+ miles away at night but as it is now, you can barely see it while sitting at the departure end of RWY 21 at Nellis. But the real killer, IMO, is that point light sources don’t actually cast any light. Sitting in the Golf revetments at Nellis should feel like mid day given the phalanx of lights on the poles behind you but no light comes from them at all. The ramp textures only look illuminated.
