obious Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) Hi All, Long story short, I switched from the Rift to the Rift S back in May when it came out and up until a few weeks ago, I've been enjoying it. I've noticed however that since installing the Windows May (I believe its the 1903) update, DCS World is very jittery in VR, both when flying and just generally navigating the menus. I've updated to the latest graphics drivers from Nvidia and have even joined the Oculus Beta channel in the hope of getting some relief but I haven't been able to find any. I'm flying with a PD of 1.6 (main specs in sig) but have even dropped down to 1.2 to see if that helped; it didn't. Has anyone else noticed micro stutter/jittery-ness or just general perf issues when flying around? I'm not even doing anything necessarily taxing, most flights are the quick start missions (ie single player with no other aircraft or AI) Does anyone think the Windows update that was just released may inadvertently fix the stutter I'm experiencing? Cheers! BaD CrC Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Do you have those jitter when looking on the sides only or all the time no matter where you are looking? https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
obious Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 Pretty much all the time where ever I’m looking but it’s most prominent when looking side to side Intel 12900k @ 5.2Ghz, RTX 4090, Samsung 1TB NVME, Thrustmaster Warthog & F-18 stick, Pendular Rudder Pedals - Quest Pro AV8B N/A UFC Build Log AV8B N/A PCBs for sale
dburne Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I would go in and check all your settings since getting the 1903 update and make sure nothing got enabled you did not have before - like Windows Game Mode. I believe it also resets the USB port power savings to on, I would got in each USB n Device Manager and make sure power saving is turned off for them. I am running Rift S on Windows 10 1903 and getting good performance. obious Posted July 17, 2019 Author Posted July 17, 2019 (edited) Hmm I just Game Mode and it was on, is this something I need to worry about? Also, any thoughts on setting my GPU to 'prefer maximum power' vs. 'optimal' in the Nvidia control panel? I've also some across a few posts where people have set the maximum number of pre-rendered VR frames to 4 in the Nvidia control panel, anyone having any luck with doing this? Definitely turn game mode off. Set in Nvidia control panel Prefer Maximum Performance.
