SharpeXB Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 My advice is, drop them completely and only play MP, that is where the meat is at in DCS anyway. Well there does need to be a good SP aspect to DCS. Most players are SP MP has playability problems as well. You can’t pause it. Half the time no servers are available because they’re running the Beta and you’d need two game versions installed if that’s all you did. And finally much of MP just isn’t very well designed as missions, no briefings or objectives or anything. MP is fine but it’s not a substitute for SP i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Tippis Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I've never played a combat flight simulator that had in mission saving or checkpoints, and I've been playing them since I was like 5 years old. Not a single one, unless my memory fails me terribly. There have been a couple, including The One That Must Never Be Mentioned™, but in every case it was more a by-product of being able to leave an aircraft and have the AI take over (and then being able to reassert control over AI aircraft). The bit in-between those two steps was just the game running AI assets as it always did, and you could save the campaign state at any such point. So it's kind of a yes-but-no situation: yes, you could save, but no, technically not in the middle of a mission. In practice, however, you could because of that take-control functionality. And in all the cases I can think of, it wasn't really available for single missions — only for full campaigns. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
jasonbirder Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 My advice is, drop them completely and only play MP, that is where the meat is at in DCS anyway Hey overwhelming majority of DCS Players...don't bother (You realise it would instantly stop being viable and would no longer be supported let alone developed further...right?)
pepin1234 Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Everything in this world repeatedly is annoying and if you are a person that got some good level in DCS then you always want more and more, like more realistic everything or like more perfect everything. What You can do...? Do different things... go edit and build missions, go and learn Ka-50, go and learn Mig-21... you also can play more often your preferred shooter or whatever different you want. You also should tolerate your buddies. If they are the problem go away from them for a time. You should look in yourself before tell everybody you got annoyed. Keep moving. Be strong [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
redmantab Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Half the folks replying here are of the same mindset. It really would just make sense for the ridiculous time sink (especially in SP) to be able to save your mission. That's it. All this nonsense about do different things. Go edit and build missions. Sure. I DO! And I love it! And then after it takes eons to accomplish anything that you are referencing....I'd rather run another game and form of entertainment. ED would be better served with a feature to save. Any well done, complex mission, just simply takes too much time to replay over and over. I've been strong. (what a silly point to make). It's just a poor use of time to try the same thing over and over 4 times after 4 hours to finally do what a save feature would allow in 1/4 the time. I don't know about you, but I value my time : ) Now on the positive! The guy's recommendation to jump into another aircraft with Left Alt +J or whatnot above....I just tried it and I think that is a pretty good solution. So, for the time being, I have something that works! Very nice! Since resuming from traks...especially with VR and a cockpit, sucks b#$! and isn't dependable. Thanks guys. Assuming another aircraft seems to be a pretty good solution . Cheers.
