Kapustin Yar-Russian SAM exercise

Recommended Posts

Wow, the Russians DO have some impressive panzer / AAA gear! What we really need in BS is dugged in/camo armour and smoke grenades.

As it is now, taking out BTR's, strela's and other schilka's is way to easy in the A-10.

According to official reports, the exercise included a low-RCS target(s?), defined as "0.01m^2." So far, it isn't clear which type of target drone could have provided such a profile though, so there is some speculation about this claim - or at least the specific RCS.

Overall performance ranged from "satisfactory" to "good" for all participants except the Buk, which received an "unsatisfactory" rating.

Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer.

I love that the OSA's driver has customized it with a set of air horns!
That is actually the OSA-based drone launcher, called SAMAN.

The Russians also use modified Grad as target drones. There are known Russian drones with a low RCS, but not as low as the claimed 0.01m^2 in this exercise, so it has brought on some questions.
