cmbaviator Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 hi guys, I have a couple of questions: 1) how can do you slave the magic II with a radar lock ? => I had a radar lock, switch to Magic II, ie I had Square + Circle, I then press the button to slave the magic, but nothing happend, shouldn't I have a triangle ? 2) How do you fire your 30mm ? I can fire S530 and Magic II but can't fire the 30mm although the "CAN" was on the HUD. 3) I coudln't map the flares or charps, can you manually deploayed IR flares or charps ? in advance, thanks
Cruiser18 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 1: Not sure, sounds like it should work from what you've said. Worked fine for me yesterday on GAW. 2: You have to unsafe your weapons (sounds like you've done that, since you can fire missiles) and you must also unsafe the gun with another little red switch that is down on the front left panel. It looks like a smaller version of the weapons safety switch with a little safety on it. 3: I don't remember the exact name, but the main buttons I've bound for countermeasures is called something like "Activate countermeasures program" and the other I use is "Panic countermeasures". On the panel at your right knee there's a row of switches for the RWR etc. Furthest to the right is a switch that activates the countermeasures system. The rotary next to it controls the program the dispenser will use. I usually set it to program 1, which will dispense 6 chaff when I hit the dispense button. Reference the kneeboard for what the different dispense programs do and find the one that suits you. Using the panic button I believe I pump out 6 flares and 6 chaff. This is nice for when someone fires a missile at me at close range as it should cover both IR's and radar guided missiles. For long range engagements, the regular program with only chaff is best because only radar missiles works at long range anyways and shooting flare will just give away my position. If you use the Eclair pod, which gives you way more chaff and flare, remember to activate it. Its the litle square box on your front left in the cockpit, hanging on the edge of the canopy frame.

myHelljumper Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 1: Triangle is not implemented yet, square + circle is magic and radar lock. 2: As said above, gun safety and the only way to select the AA gun is with the HOTAS command, should be called AA gun select 3: You have to turn on the systems and bind the correct HOTAS controls, the manual would be you friend here. jojo Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 thnaks 1) how do I know if my MAGIC is radar slaved ? The circle is Magic seeker line of sight. It will be on target, inside the radar box for now. Soon, the radar square bow will be replaced by triangle. You will also hear a tone when Magic has locked target. Mirage fanatic ! QuiGon Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 thnaks 1) how do I know if my MAGIC is radar slaved ? When the Magic circle moves inside the radar square after you pressed the MAGIC SLAVE button. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
cmbaviator Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 When the Magic circle moves inside the radar square after you pressed the MAGIC SLAVE button. I think it does that automatically without needing to press the magic slave
Steph21 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) I think it does that automatically without needing to press the magic slave It can, as IR seeker can lock the target without being slaved to radar lock (if bandit is on Magic seeker LOS for example). Slave option is really useful in turning fight where you don't to wait for the bandit to be in your Magic Seeker LOS before shooting. You put the bandit on your lift vector with radar in Vertical Scan, then when you get a radar lock, you slave your Magic and you can shoot (if in range of course). This with the high Instantaneous Turn rate of the Mirage 2000C should give you the opportunity to shoot first in WVR after the merge Edited August 20, 2019 by Steph21

QuiGon Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 I think it does that automatically without needing to press the magic slave Then it doesn't matter anyways as the result is the same. If the Magic doesn't acquire the target on its own though, then you have to slave it to the radar, so it knows where to look for the target.
