Mike Busutil Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 When flying in a multiplayer server I will sometimes get a request from someone to be my RIO. After accepting them at some point they may leave due to X reasons. This will prevent Jester from returning and helping out. Can we make Jester functional again after a human RIO leaves? Also can we get some type of indication of the human RIO skill set like whether training has been completed or total RIO hours? Right now if I allow a random RIO to join me during a mission it is a gamble whether or not he knows what he is doing. Some RIO's are skilled and help successfully complete the missions while others jump in, push random buttons, blow off the canopy and then eject... With Jester not being functional after the human RIO leaves it makes a mission nearly impossible to complete successfully. Thoughts? For the second I see it very difficult or impossible without some fundamental changes in DCS. But if we are going to have more multicrew aircrafts in the future (F-4, F-15E, Mi-24, Tornado ?) it would be nice to have at least an option to set how much knowledge the RIO or WSO has.
IronMike Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 We've been working on a fix/new feature for that internally for the past couple months, but it takes time as it touches on many underlying functions and we want to avoid new issues resulting from it. So for now no promise yet, but we hope we can implement a fix in general, soon. Thank you for your kind patience. Tyrant07 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 If your RIO needs to go for X reason, ask him/her nicely to select return to spectators from the role select screen before disconnecting and you will get Jester once they leave the jet.
IronMike Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Yes, this is of course true as well. An orderly exit via spectators of your RIO should always restore your Jester.
