Latest OB update and before...

I can't tell any difference whether "realistic" box is checked or not in setup. Works great in both cases. In realistic mode I can slew anything w/o holding TDC pressed in. Press to lock or slewing after the lock (TGP) and locking again works fine... perhaps I'm pressing the trackball unintentionally and causing it to work as advertised... either way is fine:D

I'm just curious if any other Warthog owners see the same.

I gave up on the WH TDC for hornet. it works fine with a10c but with Hornet its way too lagy so i switched it for trim button and works much better. From the start i used TMS right for TDC depress because again the trackball push was not working 100%.

Yea... the trackball is definitely crappy and pressing it almost always causing cursor to move, even with a sizeable dead zone. Well, the dead zone can't be too big... that creates issues too.

it works great with A10c , just too frustrating with the F18. Even using trim hat, there is still lag with movements (MP), but it is not as bad.

I don't understand. For the last couple weeks I have been trying to get MavF slew/depress to work w/ my WH throttle. I understand there is a mod for the button available but not happy w/ having my credit card info sitting in some shop in Europe for the next 3 months so haven't ordered it. As of now I am better off leaving the Mav in boresight mode, flying the plane like it's gunsite, hit uncage and then hit launch. I keep reading it is something w/ the TM throttle hardware and so ED can't do anything about it. But it works just fine in the A10? Logic seems to say you have one controller and two planes and there is a problem with only one of the planes. So how can that be a controller fault?

I haven't ordered mine either yet. I hate waiting lists... just uncheck the realistic slew option in setup. You have to be able to reposition the cursor quick. I don't care (for now:smilewink:) that it's not how it's done in the real jet. It works.

Because unless something has changed in the A-10, the RW behaviour doesn't require you to hold the slew button depressed to slew the MAV seeker head around whereas the with the F-18 you are required to do so. This limitation in the TM hardware only became really apparent when ED added correct RW behaviour to slewing the MAV. Do as Gripes said above and uncheck the "realistic slew" in the options, or just assign the slew press to another button that you can hold down while you're slewing.

You can just pay via paypal, are you saying you don't trust THEM with your credit card info?

Not ordering the slew upgrade is a huge mistake.

I don't have a paypal account. I will look again because I know sometimes I use a credit card but paypal is somehow involved in the process.

I do have the press assigned to another button. I will work more on the slew dead zones, curves etc because it sure doesn't work real well. Question; often as I am slewing I get close to my target and the thing jumps--never onto where I am trying to aim. Also when trying to aim at the side of a multi story building, which is usually nearly white, it prefers to lock onto the black roof. Seems the Mav does a lot more damage going in the side rather than sliding onto the roof. Are these normal actions?

Just an FYI. I have the "Yet another warthog slew upgrade" and think it's fantastic

What doesn't work is TDC simulation, and it's an issue with DCS and not HW. Here's simple prof I've done on the Harrier (still learning the Hornet)(the Harrier has the same laggy analog-TDC problem):

- On DDI (Harrier: MFCD) Go to EHSD

- Select a waypoint

- ODS for DATA

Now you can either enter new waypoint coordinates in the ODU or you can simply use TDC to slew the waypoint around the EHSD map. Try it. The analog slew works just fine.

Pro-Tip: if you put a dab of hot-glue on the tip of the original TM WH HOTAS TDS Slew stick, it is 1000x easier to use as well, but the upgrade is still simply fantastic.

It's for the Maverick, because you can realistically only slew the Maverick whith holding TDC pressed in.

Since I first acquired the F/A-18 I've been very dissatisfied with the way the Maverick worked with the TDC, especially the TDC Depress. Recently I just mapped the TDC Depress to the RECCE Event button (A-10 Master Mode) and found that quite a bit more functional...and I saw no reason for RECCE at this time.
