is it pretty easy to find pilots online to fly with if I want to be a backseater (no pun)

 

and what engine does the FM have? the T30 or F100?

1) There are probably more pilots than RIOs, so yes.

2) F100.

There are lots more pilots than RIO's. However from experience I have found most people don't let people they don't know drop in as there RIO.

The issue is that if your RIO bails you don't get Jester back.

Also you have no guarantee that the person has Comms, or even any idea what they are doing. People don't tend to risk it

Teamspeak. Simple as that. Fly a day or two with a guy, get along nicely and you will be able to RIO for a gazillion of folks. If they know you are good, they will be asking for you even.

Well...if they crash you don’t. If they just leave the game, jester comes back
