The Pro has a washable leather face plate and a short cable for the HP backpack PC.

The Pro also has a business warranty where they send a replacement device and you return the faulty one, whilst the consumer version has a consumer warranty where you return it and HP decide whether to repair it or replace.

The consumer and business warranties are the same as it turns out. The consumer side of the house was in the process of getting a replacement sent to me, but then they finally figured out that it was the pro and transferred me to their business division.

Oddly, their business division is wanting to troubleshoot things by sending me a replacement cable...which appears to be on eternal back-order. The good thing about dealing with the business side though is that it is usually people in your same country, so successful communication has been a lot easier.

Interesting, this is what the HP VR Product Manager said on Reddit:

I'll point out the biggest differences:

  • If you have a Consumer Version, the support team will want you to send your unit back and it will be repair/replaced and shipped back.
  • If you have a Pro Version, you will get a new headset shipped to you and the old one will be sent back when the new one arrives to you.

Looks like a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. This sort of disconnect between what is being represented, and what the truth actually is, unfortunately is getting all too common.

Hi.

Can anyone actually buy the Consumer-version??

I contacted HPs german consumer-relations and ask, when the consumer-Reverb will be available but did not even get an answer.

If they dont bother sending me a quick response, why should I bother buying a Reverb???

When I sent back my consumer Reverb, they decided they don't do repairs and replaced it with the Pro.

I'd get the Pro to make this easier in future. I did actually like the cloth vs. leather but it's not a big deal
