DerFangzahn Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Hi, I am currently running a 6700k with 32GB @ 2133MHz. I am curious if DCS will benefit from an upgrade to 3200MHz memory. When I check benchmarks different games do benefit from ram speed. I am asking myself if DCS is one of them. Anyone had experience with such a topic? Thank you! Regards
toutenglisse Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Yes it does. It has been tested with DCS 1.5 by Tiborrr user (sticky thread 2016 hardware benchmark : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=157374). It increases both low (about +15%) and average (about +10%) FPS for a 1Ghz increase in DRAM frequ.
unlikely_spider Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 My understanding is that increases in memory speed affect AMD processors more than Intel, generally speaking. May be different application to application. Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
BitMaster Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Yes it does. When you shop for 3200, get some with CL14. A 3200 kit with CL17 aint much better than what you have already. If you get a good kit, it might run at even lower latency if you tinker with it. I finally got mine to 3200 CL14-14-14-34-560-2T on this stupid mobo. Needs 1.4v vs. the XMP 1.35v setting. You need to play around with it. Lower latency beats more bandwidth at higher latency in gaming. BitMaster Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 My understanding is that increases in memory speed affect AMD processors more than Intel, generally speaking. May be different application to application. Yes, but both benefit to a certain extend. North of 3600 the default latency that comes with the sticks often nullifies the increased speed. You need to balance both. AMD Ryzen 3000 have a special case beyond 3600. Their sweetspot is 3600 with a latency as low as possible Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
