Sulman Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 First IAF evaluation flight in Mig-25 at Krasnodar 1979 (Maybe now ED can include India in the countries list:smilewink:) AIR MARSHAL PHILIP RAJKUMAR (RETD) : " 'Our Soviet hosts were amused when we refused all alcoholic beverages before the evaluation flights. They said the only pilots who did not drink alcohol in the Soviet Air Force were 'auto-pilots' " Wonderful pictures. I'm curious about the alcohol quote - Alex Zuyev (MiG-29 defector) wrote that the VVS were highly disciplined about alcohol and physical conditioning. For instance, any hint of alcohol from the night before, or any less than eight hours sleep, and the flight surgeon would normally ground the pilot. To contribute: MiG-23MF, Poland. C-17, Royal Air Force. Gripen. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Not a decent HOTAS, nor TrackIR, sure do not have pedals on the floor, these Americans are a few sloppy :smilewink::joystick:. In addition to the HOTAS on the table has to be a cumbersome to use, and just to see the picture I'm getting pain in the arms. When I get training at work, they don't care if I'm comfortable, they just want me to get the required training so I can get back to work. I'm sure is the same for this UAV pilots and sensor operator. Their joystick doesn't have to be a good one (I presume) just needs to teach them the basics of aircraft operations/controls. Track IR would not help them, they don't use that in UAV, AFAIK Pedal not needed, again I'm assuming, because the are just learning aircraft fundamentals Corrections:  According to the caption on the bottom of the photo, they are undergoing sensor training, nothing to do with controls, so rudder pedals and better controls would not help them.
