Drive Question

Hi, I have DCS World installed on my 2TB hard drive. I'm going to down load the F18. One of it's recommendations is a SSD. I have a SSD drive with 512GB with 425GB free.

Can I load the F18 on the SSD and have the game be able to find it? Or do I just download it to the hard drive? Or does this not matter because I already have DCS world loaded on the hard drive so it wouldn't make a difference in performance?

You would need to move the whole of DCS to the SSD.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. Is there a big major difference if I run the F18 on my hard drive?

You will be fine, although an SSD is better I run some of my builds on a HDD without issue.

You probably can using junctions, but it's not going to be pretty to maintain and can break in really funny ways…

Hey thanks for all the fast answers guys! Sorry I put this in the wrong forum section.

The reason I ask this is because sometimes with the Frogfoot I get like a 2 second screen freeze once in a great while, but other than that it runs flawless. I got an i9 9900k with a RTX 2080 super graphics card. With settings on high.

You say you sport a 9900k, a 2080.........and run DCS off an old lame HDD ???

 

Do yourself the biggest treat of 2019 and move ALL of DCS to your almost empty SSD.

 

You will NEVER put it back on HDD, am 99.99% sure.

I saw a very noticeable improvement in performance(smoothness/reduced stutters) when I moved DCS from an HDD to an SSD a couple of years ago. You have a ton of available space...just do it! :pilotfly:

Plus on an SSD, 4 to 5 times quicker in loading times.

unless you really need 10TB of storage there really is no need to have anHDD anymore SATA SSDs are so cheap now and the NVME m2 ones are mindbogglingly fast.
