Greyman Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Having just failed to get the aircraft engine to get to beyond 20%, on a 3 occasions, it would appear that the fuel gauge is reporting no fuel. This also appears to be the case on Wags' cold start video, so either i am missing something or Wags has found the solution to carbon emissions. edit: as the fuel indicator in Wags' video appears to start working, it looks like it only works when the engine is running. that means that there is probably another reason why i can't get the engine running. Although it is more than likely finger trouble on my part, i am pretty sure that i am following the instructions. I did turn of the synchronise switches to the HOTAS switches setting btw, and reloaded the mission, as some of my switches weren't in the same place as the ones in the video. Greyman Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 it looks like it is something to do with the thrust axis on my WH. It works, but i have now set the IDLE OFF in controls to switch 29 and wiggled the throttle around a little after lifting it over the Detent. Not sure why yet, but the engine revs increased after that. Maybe my thrust axis needs tuning a little as it seems to work if i start in the air?
ED Team Wags Posted October 3, 2019 ED Team Posted October 3, 2019 Hi, I just tested this and I cannot reproduce it. Thanks Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
Greyman Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Hi, I just tested this and I cannot reproduce it. Thanks It looks like it is something to do with my thrust axis, as when i lift the thottle over the idle detent, the throttle in the cockpit does not go to the idle setting until i "wiggle the lever around". Maybe a re-calibration might be in order or i just need to press the keyboard shortcut that you use to get it into idle.
Greyman Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Just as a bit of additional evidence, when i start the instant 'cold and dark' mission, with my throttle in the off position, ie lifted back over the idle detent, i cannot get it to move to the onscreen idle position by lifting the lever forwards over the detent until i cycle it back and then forward again. edit: i should probably turn off my PC, go to bed and get some sleep, as this one looks like it is something to do with how the switches on my throttle are set in control settings. If i amend my Misc settings to have the controls to synch with HOTAS, a few of the onscreen switches are in the wrong place at mission start, but the onscreen throttle does move to idle when i lift my WH throttle forward over the idle detent. if i clear the synch controls... checkbox in the misc settings, the onscreem switches are all apparently in position for the cold start, but the onscreen throttle will not move forward into the idle position, until i cycle the physical controller forward, back and forward, over the idle detent. it's probably just me. :) Edited October 3, 2019 by Greyman
=Panther= Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 With cleared sync option, I also have to cycle the throttle. Just get in a habit of cycling the throttle prior to engine start sequence and all will be well. This is in every module of DCS, not just the Viper. Greyman Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Fair enough. @=Panther=. That's useful to know. I have tended to cheat a bit, with auto-start, on cold start missions recently, so had missed that. I'll sort out the other switches in my control scheme, so that I can safely use the synch option, as some of the commands in the default profile must be set to switches on my throttle that are set "wrongly" for startup.
