VC Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 As far as I understand from reading existing threads, it is intended behaviour that the left DDI defaults to the stores page when you use the weapon select switch in A/A mode. However, realistic or not, this behaviour is extremely annoying. Is there any way to stop it doing this, or to at least quickly get back to whatever I had on there before (usually EW or SA)? Pamenchan Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Maybe the configuration the pilot wants to use in each mode (nav, A-A, A-G) can be parametred in the mission datacard, as well as the waypoints, countermeasures programs, radios, etc... ED said they want to implement something like this in the future, so we just have to wait...
VC Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 Fair enough, if it's something that might be implemented then we wait :) Any shortcuts in the meantime? A key with a macro to press the right DDI buttons maybe? VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! X51 website: https://x51squadron.com/ Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/d9JtFY4
MacEwan Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I always thought that realistically a pilot would be able to pre-set which pages are displayed by default in different modes but I asked this in a past thread and was told the F18 can't do this.

To some extent it can. On Radar page there is a settings PB, not in yet, but you can change defaults for things like range, azimuth, prf for when you RTS from ACM mode, or select weapons. I don't know what ED plans to do with the preferred DDI screens, I believe Wags did say default screens were part of that. Defaulting to stores isn't bad though, critical for AG. But in AA a quick SCS left will change stores to AZ/EL. Useful page to have up (once implemented), with SA on AMPCD and gods view on right for basic AA setup. just a dude who probably doesn't know what he's talking about

In case some don’t know, maybe even yourself.. The “SET” pb functions in A/A mode and can be tailored for each of the A/A weapons, excluding guns. Not complete for all systems at the moment, but you can at least set azimuth, range and bar for aamram/aim9/aim7 at the moment. VC Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 For now I've used a modifier to map a few of the left DDI buttons to my HOTAS, so I don't have to mouse click to get to some crucial menus. Thing is, I'm sure stores can be useful for A/A missile settings, but in VR the DDIs are quite hard to read, and the separate RWR is very small and badly placed. So I would basically always want SA and EW up if I'm going into a fight geared up for A/A (yes I know RWR info is on SA too but again the clutter makes it much harder to see there).
