Eagle7907 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 I noticed the BA has been increased to a better altitude for employment, but also noticed the release cues have slightly changed as well. Not sure if this was intentional or a bug later to be fixed. The change I noticed is the delayed release cue, dash line on bomb fall line, is always presented when CBU-97s are selected for drop. I've provided a track that demonstrates this behavior. When selected to dumb iron bombs, mk-82s, the CCIP HUD cue does change correctly when closing in to ground for immediate release, dash not present. Again, not really sure if intentional or not. Just noticed this wasn't the case before the update dated as above. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kpo43a8sz4nwf1q/f16ccip.trk?dl=0 Win 10, AMD FX9590/water cooled, 32GB RAM, 250GB SSD system, 1TB SSD (DCS installed), 2TB HD, Warthog HOTAS, MFG rudders, Track IR 5, LG Ultrawide, Logitech Speakers w/sub, Fans, Case, cell phone, wallet, keys.....printer
VampireNZ Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 It will initially be displayed if you use the same profile as before due to the increased BA - but if you pitch to a steeper angle etc it is easily possible to drop it in CCIP with no delay cue - have done it several times since the update. Just with it bursting higher it behaves closer to a high-drag weapon now, so yes the delay cue will appear more often than not. Vampire

It shouldn't be behaving like high drag until the burst height when the canister separates. I'm not saying the profile for release is wrong, (obviously since its been proven by many successful kills) but it should calculate to no delay when reaching a particular height and angle, which I've yet to see it since the update. It is pretty easy to figure out, the delay cue is a commensurate height above the bottom of the HUD as the target point is below it, so adjust your speed/angle etc and you will see it move up and down...I was just testing it out so sped up, angled down etc and as I got closer the delay cue dropped off the bottom and the CCIP no-delay indicator was on the target. Was pretty close to the TGT by then thou. So it IS possible - but I would just drop them level in CCRP anyway after a CCIP designation - tis no biggie. You saw the full CCIP pipper more often before because it was travelling further in the unopened state (lower BA), so target point was more out in front of you. Same deal as slick vs HD Mk-82's for example. Vampire
Eagle7907 Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) Hmm, okay. So in other words, I was going too slow for the geometry to show an immediate release? I didn't think I was going that slow. I'll try it again. Thanks. How close were you? Because if its overhead, then yes that makes sense because you were at the BA..... OOOH, okay! I think I get it. Let me experiment again. Eagle7907 Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 Results Okay, I finally was able to see what Vampire was talking about, but it still looks really wrong. I've provided three tracks to show what I am talking about. On all passes, I pickled at runway end/just past threshold. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8gizuzpbsickiz9/f16cciplevel.trk?dl=0 This track, the level track, shows that releasing in CCIP mode gives a delayed release right at burst altitude, which to me doesn't make sense. I did this pass at a pretty good speed and didn't get any different results. Notice the skeets falling in front of where I pickled. Should be doing immediate release cue. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lzdkivdjmdd5lec/f16ccipdive.trk?dl=0 This one, I did a shallow dive at high speed to see if the results would be different. Still a delayed release. Almost same result except you can see where I dipped lower than the BA and some skeets fell closer to ground in the middle. Pretty cool. But still should be doing an immediate release cue. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t3fzrtms3z0a4lo/f16ccipsteepdive.trk?dl=0 Lastly, I did a steep dive. I did get the immediate release cue, but it was setting myself for a date with a runway impact, so I had to pull out early. I don't know. Does an immediate release usually not happen in the F16 with CBUs? I'm not able to see how this is right. wraith70 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 (edited) Check this out: Grim Reapers put this out Oct 10/2019 so this was pre Oct 11 update. Can clearly see that CBU-97 immediate release. I've only started learning this post update and can't replicate this. Is this a bug??? Edited October 18, 2019 by wraith70
