...making some changes as follows;

Turned my PhysX to CPU

Nvidia CP setting to 'Ultra' Low-Latency Mode (I suspect it was this that did it)

Turned screens to 512

Turned off grass/clutter

Turned off Dirt, now flare only

Maxed out pre-load (I have 32GB DDR4)

Hope that helps.

Out of interest I tried that suggestion you gave that I've boldly underlined and can confirm with initial testing (~1hr gameplay) that has definitely helped in my case (rift S/Nvidia1080/32gb/SSD) with regards to the issues in this thread. don't wanna jinx anything, but yep so far no issue

. . . . . . .

Every module/ map except the dual winged joke.

The Oculus tray tool has been updated. This has helped when the game started getting choppy, by using 45Hz forced option in the default ASW mode.

The stuttering issue reappeared for me yesterday. Unfortunately, I updated both the OpenBeta version and Nvidia drivers at the same time and went into game and it was stuttering mess. This entire experience as of late is damned if you do, damned if you don't. The Rift-S software and its interaction with my computer is awful. Very rarely does my headset decide to work properly on the first attempt. While the performance of the OpenBeta has seemed to stabilize a bit, my game crashed again yesterday. I'll do a cleanup and repair later and remove the shader mod and see if that helps.

For me it was the other way around, after the update (i kept all settings and profiles) things got choppy when looking sideways. Needed to reset ASW modes for each profile again. After that the stutter was gone.

I've again been on the receiving end of some game stutters and performance weirdness, not sure if you came across my thread (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=249793) but I feel I have some significant experience with RiftS and DCS, I resolveds these recently occuring stutters by making some changes as follows;

Turned my PhysX to CPU

Nvidia CP setting to 'Ultra' Low-Latency Mode (I suspect it was this that did it)

Turned screens to 512

Turned off grass/clutter

Turned off Dirt, now flare only

Maxed out pre-load (I have 32GB DDR4)

PhysX to CPU? Did that make any difference? I thought it was supposed to be handled by the GPU?

i7 8700k @ 5.0ghz. Strix GTX1080Ti. 32GB RAM @ 3600. 2x Hyper X SSD’s with DCS on one. Oculus Rift S. Asus PG278-QR. Liquid Series PC with liquid CPU and GPU cooling.
