imacken Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Is there a quick way of going from DMT to TPOD to avoid all the OSB presses? Captain Orso Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I'd wondered about that too. Short answer, none of which I know. If DMT is ON, there are certain situations that cause DMT to pop into the right MFCD, even if the TPOD is running -- not in STBY. I believe the only solution is to leave the DMT OFF if the TPOD is being used; ie don't turn it on during startup. Let the TPOD do all the work. The all SSS input should be directed to the TPOD and not DMT. Even with DMT off, you can still open the DMT page in the MFCD to set the laser code, so there's no need to turn the DMT on at all if the TPOD is mounted. imacken Posted October 21, 2019 Author Posted October 21, 2019 Hmm, interesting idea, thanks. I'll give that a go. kengou Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I don't think there's any way. The TPOD is not as closely integrated to the Harrier as other jets. Best thing to do is just leave the TPOD up though, I don't see why you'd really need to switch to it frequently with HOTAS. Put HTS mode on and you can work entirely off the TPOD with no need for the DMT throughout an attack run or CAS operations. jacobs Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I really miss a "DMS" type switch on HOTAS that would allow quick switch between MFD pages. I like Harrier cockpit and systems but the HOTAS is not that well thought out (IMHO).

Once the TPOD became operational I assume it became the primary sensor. (be nice to have SME input on that) Yet another thing that isn't modeled well in the harrier is the inherent resolution of various sensors, and the DMT being 1980's TV tech versus early 2000's CCD tech. Currently both "images" look the same IIRC, with more zoom available on the TPOD. IMO the DMT should look like an old school TV picture, while the TPOD should look like a digital TV. I know the specs for the CCD on the TPOD from various versions, just not sure which one we have, and I don't know the "resolution" on the old DMT.
