GazAce Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 (edited) Hey good people, I’ve been doing a lot of mud moving lately and thought it’s about time I try my hand at some serious A to A engagement. I loaded up one of the default A to A missions we’re lucky enough to have and after 4 attempts, for the life of me I cannot get behind this dude. I’m pulling 6 and 7 G banking hard right & left, big loops, dives, breaking sound barrier.. the works but the Mig always stays behind me as if by some magical hocus pocus. I use my EW in the HUD and soon as he’s at my 5:00 o’clock I then try and make my move by banking hard at full throttle to get around him but his ID seems to vanish from my HUD and then reappear directly behind me again. Is it possible to get behind this Mig or am I doing something wrong? razo+r Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 1) It's AI. They have magical flight model 2) Just zoom up high where he can't follow, dive down and voila, you're on his six. End of the fight.

Harker Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 You can definitely do it, it just takes practice. The Hornet is good at low speeds and high alphas, use it. Try to do some scissors and end up behind him. Use the rudder. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. kengou Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 The MiG-29 should have a better sustained turn rate at higher speeds so try to get into a one-circle fight and get the fight slow. The AI is definitely beatable, don't let anyone say to give up because it uses a UFO flight model. It does, but it's still beatable with sound BFM. Harker Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 The ole scissor move huh! Thank you Harks! Well, if you're going to pick one plane for it, I guess that'd be the Hornet. Not my first choice of move, but the Hornet's nose authority makes it a viable tactic, if the bandit is behind you and you're having a hard time evading them otherwise.
