I don't think this is Tomcat-specific. On certain locations on the deck the Hornet's radar altimeter will read 70, then suddenly read 0 as you start taxiing.

Really? I havent noticed that. It might be an ED bug then.

Happens to me any time I start on an elevator, regardless of jet. Radar ALT reads 70 on the elevator, then once I taxi it will go to 0 and set off the warning.

In that case, it's not a bug. Remember your tail sticks out from the deck on elevator starts, and the tail is where your radar altimiter is located (it's closest to ground on landing, besides landing gear)

The radar alt antenna is actually in the nose.

Oh shit. You're right. It is on the nose. Must've mistook it with the hornet. My bad.
