So, I still haven't figured out how to use real comms in DCS. I play in VR only so the simpler the campaign, the better for me (right now). Can this campaign work with easy comms on or so I need to just figure out how the radios work? Thanks.

I think easy comms are a no-go in this campaign.

All radio calls by all the assets (wingmen, other flights, ground-based and air-based commanders) will be made on the proper frequencies.

Easy comms automatically tune your radios to the proper frequency when you make a radio call. But it doesn't tune the radio when someone tries to call you.

So the only way to get the radios to the proper freqs is to tune them yourself.

With a bit of practice is becomes quite simple, though. And as an added bonus, if you go Multiplayer and people want you to talk on UniversRadio or SimpleRadioStandalone, you already know how to set up your in-game radios. The rest is just a little bit of setting up your hardware.

The A-10C has 3 radios, and the HOTAS uses a 4-way-switch to select which radio to transmit on (1 way is unused).

Radio Switch Forward: Transmit on VHF AM Radio

Radio Switch Down: Transmit on UHF AM Radio

Radio Switch Aft: Transmit on VHF FM Radio

The freq is set on each of the 3 radio panels. The manual gives you the frequency ranges for each of the 3 radios.

With a bit of practice, it becomes real easy to use the radios. For me, this added a lot to the immersion, and for the Enemy Within campaign it's absolutely worth learning.

Ok, so 1 more question. 1 thing I noticed about easy comms is that it shows the frequency of all assets in the radio options on the top right. I only play in VR and having the hunt down frequencies with the head set on is tricky. So, can i play this campaign with easy comms on but with me manually tuning into the frequencies in order to receive communications?

Hey! Use the kneebord, you will find all the frequencies listed there, as well as plenty of other useful stuff.
