Phantom_Mark Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Really struggling with CCIP in the F16, is there something I can change to make it behave more like CCIP in other aircraft like the F18 for example ? Currently I dive towards a target put the pipper on it and then hit the weapon release and nothing happens, keep it pressed and sometimes the bomb releases as I pass through the target and fly away ( I read about the computer does something like auto release with CCIP or something atm ?? ) I just can't get a handle on it atm :(
DefaultFace Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Often if you aren't diving steep enough, or fast enough the Impact point wont be visible in the HUD. What youll get then is the normal CCIP pipper symbology with a horizontal line across it. If you hold the weapon release button with that symbology the jet will essentially enter CCRP mode for the point that was underneath the pipper when you pressed the weapon release button. Otherwise dive steeper or wait till you get lower/closer to the target and get the pipper without the horizontal line, then it should work as you expect. 9./JG27 "If you can't hit anything, it's because you suck. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 30, 2019 ED Team Posted November 30, 2019 Hi Have a read from page 197 in the manual, if the target is not visible in the fall line it will use the time delay cue. If you are still having trouble post a short track replay and we can all give you some pointers. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Phantom_Mark Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 Thanks, first part of understanding my error while practising is understanding the constraints :D I think that is probably where I have been failing most. is there any reason why the constraints seem tighter than the F18 feels in CCIP tho ? Or is it possible it is just the extra frontal vision due to canopy design playing tricks with my usual expectations and visual reference ?
JIMJAM Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 All I have to say is man am I glad there are CLUSTER BOMBS!!!! My high end pc and video card that cost more than my first card disagree but the end justifies the means.
RampantCoyote Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 is there any reason why the constraints seem tighter than the F18 feels in CCIP tho ? Or is it possible it is just the extra frontal vision due to canopy design playing tricks with my usual expectations and visual reference ? That's certainly possible. Maybe because I spent a lot of time in Falcon 4.0 back in the day, the Viper now seems slightly more at home to me than the F/A-18 does. I also use VR, so there's the whole thing about where I position my head and how it "feels" relative to the nose of the aircraft, so that could be a thing. The MiG-29 and Su-25T have similar functionality, and while you are pretty much doing the same thing with all of them, there's a slightly different "feel" that probably goes along with your sight picture as you line things up.
