  1. Well bottom line is DCS is H U GE but another sim MSFS is incredibly LARGE!! Looks like I have to get rid of one of the two..... Man am I gonna miss MSFS hahaha....
  2. For the life of me I cannot see where the installer gives a option WHERE to install the new beta despite saying the selected drive is to small which is a ssd where the previous DCS is installed which indeed it is to small. A new FULL install on another much larger drive might be in order.
  3. Feels great on a TM Warthog thr/stick/pedals using DEFAULT curves. Fist thing to do is STOP mucking with all those curves and reset them. Get use to the way the jet feels and fly the plane. Don't fly the curves, deadzones/sensitivities/ and who knows what others. I saw a guy flying the F16 with this like 3 foot extended stick wondering why it was "hard." Read pilot reports on handling, read the charts/manuals. Fly the jet. I mean its yours so you can turn a C-152 into a rolling like a Pitt Special and turn a T-38 into as stable as a glider... I fly the 14/15/16 etc like the devs/pilot test guys handed it to me. If they say thats how it is, that good enough for me.
  4. Been simming since Microprose F-19, flown every sim/computer combination since. I have 2 degrees, 4 type ratings. That said... I have NO IDEA what any of the last 3 pages means hahahaha.. Bought my VR headset from Steam. I click run and see what picture/performance or if DCS/MSFS even runs. Somedays great and its the best thing since sticky movable sunscreens to being a product of satan himself. So far every experiment/change I attempt ruins what I have. Lots and lots of placebo/snake oil salesmen in flight sims with the Holy Grails only a few mouse clicks away. So hurry up and fix it haha...
  5. Kondor77..... Haha........ Needed that among a sea of simmers freaking out on this.
  6. Just remember if/when you start getting stutters or the screen seems to snag... Before you go tweeking settings for hours trying to solve it, TURN OFF the Trackir first. Some lights even distant, can spook the sensor causing this. Don;t confuse trackir issues with the sim. Also there is a setting light filter threshold that you can tinker with to resolve this. But yeah I quit VR for various reasons and trackir is a must have for me since day 1.
  7. Its been a long time but I have time a simulator at KSSC. I saw really quickly why they added some movement because of pilots injuring their wrist. I recall after only 15 minutes or so it felt like you were controlling the plane with your mind and not moving the stick. In DCS I use the TM WH HOTAS and its set wth zero deadzone and as sensitive as it gets. I haven't flown the 16 in weeks but today flew it and it handled like a wet blanket. I knew the fm had been changed and wondered why??? Rolls are crisp and very easy to stop. I don't recall ever getting sloppy and having the plane continue rolling once input had stopped. Maybe with some outboard mounted ordinance it might but during my sim sessions block c none were loaded. But yeah I don't care for it now.
  8. Running on a new 3080 ti at 4k the Apache CTD when loading mission. Tried Mi-8 and it ctd after mission when ending it.
  9. Bumped up my processor/ram/mobo/case etc early 2022 with the latest greatest with "some" improvement with DCS. Always been acceptable but any self missions with AI, fast and low = some "air thickness". Not stutters but drag. Some maps are worse "Marianas" and best suited for helis/ props. So 4/1/22 in a moment of weakness I spent WAY to much for a 3080 TI. It's been 4 years iirc, things getting worse so wth. Hooked it up, new fire breathing PSU and was greeted with a "smell" and nothing but a blinked red light. Three different PSUs later sent it back to N Egg. 3080 TIs having issues, supply chain shortages and severe price gouging. No cards to replace it so still waiting for a refund. So back goes in my trusty 1080 TI. My nephew and family computer whiz ran DCS, FS and had some graphics wierdness and even some ctds. Time to stop stressing over it and maintain my current system maybe spend some on comforts, maybe a new large screen. Done ordering for a while. Still sketchy, shady feeling and expensive.
  10. My first helicopter time was in our state's LE 500E and Wildlife's Long Ranger. It went as imagined. Then my proper training was in a Hughes 300 @ $125 a hour. My instructor and co worker handed me a ceramic kitchen plate and a small rubber ball. He told me we wouldn't fly again until I could balance and keep that ball centered on the plate. 8 hrs and 2 pots of coffee later I could do it. Did more for my touch than any bouncing around burning $$$. Apaches are more common here than Ford Mustangs with KMMT nearby who got the 1st as a guard unit. Can't say I have ever seen any do the things the DCS heli does. It's rock solid with a side slip being far more common that the forward/back "bucking" the DCS Apache seems to enjoy. Also I used a extension on my TM WH stick and it felt like I was stirring a pot of chili. Horrible. Use zero deadzone on the rudders and practice on the FARPS. Don't be sloppy. Put that imaginary instructor on your shoulder and if/ when you lose it or get sloppy, stop. Reset and go again. Don't use "settings" and tricks as a crutch. IIRC I did flatten the curves on the stick for uniformity and left rudders stock. Be hard on yourself, taxi centered on the lines, land on that X and from a solid foundation later your can implement those weapon systems.
  11. Not sure it is a "bug" but just a incredible amount of explosions and effects going off at one time. I don't even use them any more because they are way way over powered. The one that shoots the skeets upwards is more or less a mini nuke. No doubt the carnage can be better optimized but then some will complain about the graphics. BTW I have pretty much the fastest setup you can get and would like to think my system is optimized, reasonable graphics settings and disable most background progs. Even then a carpet bomb or numerous cluster munitions hit my machine HARD and sometimes turns into a slide show. My fix??? I don't use em.
  12. Been with this sim and earlier versions since day 1 and like a lot have just learned to accept the AI as "it what it is" which is either brain dead or supernatural with every shot being a "golden bb." Been spending most my time with the WW2 era so this suggestion is from a frustrating day of my Mosquito being nailed from unrealistic ranges from AAA anti aircraft guns "the smallest" set on the easiest setting. ha... Even with 80 and 90% damages the AI still has eagle eyes and laser accuracy. The AI idea may have been discussed in forums but here it is. Now it is basically horribly easy or brutally hard. I have the aircraft as realistic as possible, enjoy a tough enemy and the challenges damage brings. How about a damage setting that gives you the visual effects and sounds, a degradation in performance but you NEVER get blown out of the sky, have wings ripped off or headshots. A setting that gives you a incentive to NOT get shot but not ruin a entire mission and spend a lot of time figuring how to handicap the AI. Just another idea. Eye candy looks great but imo its time to revisit the AI and make some changes.
  13. I have having a strange issue with Track ir. In the pilots seat I re center. Looks correct, I can lean in , look right... But if I look left the zoom really kicks in until the right frame is inches from my eye. My view goes out of the plane when looking for the #1 engine. Looking over my back left shoulder is impossible because of the zoom. Haven't made any changes to IR. Strange.........
