Airmage Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Hi. Since a while, trails of both high flying aircraft and missiles are looking interrupted. Can't explain why or when exactly it ocurred. Got 3 pics to show it. Any help? Cheers.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Posted December 18, 2019 Hi are you running any mods or tweaks? Can you run a cleanup and repair or verify for steam. If it still happens please save a short track replay and attach your dcs log here, it may show us some clues. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Posted December 18, 2019 Hi your logs show a crash and some shader errors. I would recommend removing all unofficial mods and run a cleanup and repair. Ensure your Windows and GPU driver are up to date. Also in your saved games dcs folder delete the metashader2 and fxo folder and dcs will rebuild them when restarted. If you still see the same can you do a short track replay showing it happen and attach it here, I will try and reproduce. thank you edit: snipped by track, checking now Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Repair did not work. Also i have no idea when exactly this issue was triggers, or by what.
Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Could F-18 skins cause this? I mean after some recent update? I made a short clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0UWsVGX7Bw
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Posted December 18, 2019 Yes something is causing it for sure, I can not reproduce it on my machine. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Posted December 18, 2019 As maverick mentions do a cleanup and repair after you remove your unofficial mods. I have a guide in my signature below Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 NOTHING worked. NOTHING. I'm gonna smash this thing on the desk. Right now i've deleted the entire Bazar folder, and every folder that has effects, particle and shader in their names. Hope it works.
strikers_blade Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Might sound silly but have you tried wiping out the whole game and starting from scratch? If you totally clean your folder and start from a fresh new copy of DCS, you should not have any problems what so ever. If you do, it is most likely not DCS at this point and more a windows/GPU problem do be addressed differently, such as re-installing your GPU drivers from scratch. NOTHING worked. NOTHING. Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Video driver was reinstalled yesterday. After deleting eveything+repair, problem still there. I remember about a year ago, i had some serious stuttering issue without apparent reason, and the only solution was reinstall windows+game. But right now i don't want to do that. Too much work for a small issue.
Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Just out of curiosity, what are the files wich contain the contrail data? Anyone know their location? It seems my contrails have the same texture but are more scarcely added.
Art-J Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 If repair and cleanup doesn't work, the third troubleshooting step should always be temporary removing/renaming the whole Saved Games/DCS folder. That will reset all your settings and controls obviously, but you've got the replay track so don't need them anyway, at least now, for narrowing down the problem. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Airmage Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Tried that too, problem is not there.
Airmage Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Complete video driver + game reinstall and problem solved.
