I currently have Oculus Rift =. I have been toying with the idea of upgrading to the Rift S (Vive is too $$). Is the difference in resolution worth the additional investment in the Rift S? Also is the audio any good? I also have been contemplating upgrading my HOTAS from X55 to TM. Would it bee a better investment in the Rift S or upgrading my HOTAS? Open to suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

If you like the X55 and feel it's okay for your needs, then you don't have to upgrade to a TM. I've done the upgrade to a warthog from a X52 pro and was a bit disappointed.

x52 (non pro) to WH here. I spent too much time clicking with the mouse or fumbling with the keyboard instead of flying. Having the additional inputs greatly increased my HOTAS time. It's not perfect, as many will say. But, it's a giant step in the right direction for me. </2¢>

Be aware that the connector is different instead of hdmi it uses display port and comes with a display port to mini display port

I went from an X-55 to a WH and have never looked back. For me, it was the best purchase I made outside of VR and the 10cm extension for the WH stick. If you have the money I 100% recommend. It's not without it's flaws, like the TDC slew, but it's still worth it to me.

I think my ASUS 1080 has DP that I can use for the Rift S. Still on the fence about the WH, very tempted I can give my son my X55. I did order MFG rudder pedals to replace my TM TFRP.

I came from the X55 to the WH as well and it was a huge step forward, in terms of precision and the quality of my controls hardware. It also opened the door to a world of modifying and customization the X55 could never provide. The compatibility to Virpil and Realsimulator bases/grips furthermore makes the overall system very versatile. It´s not perfect (gimbal needs greasing from time to time) nor cheap, but this is an investment in your flightsim hobby you won´t regret! The increased joy during flight was worth every cent.

Just be aware that it comes with less buttons than the X55 and only one spring, wich is significant heavier than what you might be used to. Softer and even stronger springs can be purchased from 3rd party manufactors like Sahaj and there are a lot of other spare parts to adjust it to your needs, like slew mods or customizable replacement panels.

I pulled the trigger and ordered the WH! So I have the MFG rudder pedals hopefully shipping soon and WH HOTAS delivering next week. So I should be GTG with controllers. Next up possibly upgrading to the Rift S. My son will get the hand me downs and hopefully we can enjoy some MP missions. I haven't spent hardly anytime with the MP side of DCS. Hopefully with some help I will dip my toe into it! Thanks again!

I modded my throttle with the just another slew control mod or something similar and it makes the slew so much easier, better etc.

Okay received both my MFG Crosswind and Thrustmaster Warthog Stick and throttle. First impressions:

MFG- I bought the black graphite model. Construction seems very solid and the assembly was easy. Software was easy as well. DCS recognized it in the control setup menu and setup was simple. They are smooth as butter!!! The are very customizable! Great upgrade choice from my Thrustmaster pedals.

TMWH: Construction seems solid. Very ergonomic stick (compared to X-55 where I had to make a clay mold to add to the stick in order to raise my hand up to reach the buttons). Installation was a bit tricky believe it or not. It would not recognize the controllers after starting the TARGET software. Did some internet research and found a fix in my Regedit. Once that was done everything else was pretty simple. I changed some of my default bindings through the TARGET software. The Target Software seemed much more user friendly than X-55 Madcatz software. The controls seemed stiffer than my X-55 and much more precise and smooth. I plan on changing my TDC mouse hat to a different one from Delta Sims and add an extension. I also plan on ordering the F-18 stick and maybe F-14 from Virpil. That's all in the future though.

Next: VR upgrade, still considering Rift S for the price, I currently have the Rift. Also planning on doing my first computer build. And may dip my toe into multiplayer in DCS (been thinking about it for a long time).

Thanks to everyone for your input. I hope you all have a wonderful 2020!!!
