IR images looks very strange in the Harrier. Navflir is very dark and nearly useless in current condition. It should be brightly lit and green. The AGM-65G is also extremely dark, not comparable to the same AGM-65G on the F/A-18C Hornet.

One of the main features is the N/A - Night Attack capability. But sadly it is not very fun to do night missions in it. The Harrier should thrive at night, so simple question. What is going on with the FLIR and IR rendering on Harrier?

They're using EDs current FLIR rendering as far as I can see, but ED is currently working on a new FLIR rendering technology for the upcoming ATFLIR TGP and maybe it will replace the current one in all places, or if not, maybe RAZBAM then decides to use the new one instead. We will see.

Ok. It was not this bad on release. Plus the Hornet does IR imaging just fine. Im glad to hear that ED is working on a new renderer, but this is 100% on Razbam to make it usable until a better solution exists. If ED can make the current AGM-65G IR image work ok, It should be possible to make the same renderer work for Harrier AGM-65G and Navflir.

Hmm, I was under the impression the Harrier FLIR picture and the Hornets LITENING TGP FLIR picture are the same. At least that's how it looked like to me and compared to the A-10Cs IT-TGP picture it looks pretty washed out IMHO.

Can you post a screenshot showing what you mean? I fly all the time in SP and MP, and use the HUD FLIR, TPOD, and IRMAVs.

Are you in VR or flat screen?

Definitely the same for me, the NAVFLIR in the HUD is unusable, it's far too dark. The TPOD and Mavericks are usable though. It used to be better before DCS 2.5.

@Wakeshift, I use flat screen, SP, something like 2.2 gamma

So far my biggest issue with the FLIR for the hud is that the over lay dose not match the objects. Its a real pain in the butt to dive down to attack a target and after you release your ordnance they fall short. or to the side all because nothing lines up.

In all honestly its pretty useless. Greatest feature of the aircraft is useless because there is no way to get the over lay to match what is in the hud. Apparently there is a alignment you have to preform in the UFC on the real aircraft. Sadly you don't get that option in the game. It really would be nice if razbam did a fix to at least have it overlay properly so it is useable.

this is my biggest complaint of the aircraft for night missions.

The FLIR picture comes from ED's DCS code, which ED is currently re-working. AFAIK everyone is using the same FLIR code, so all are equally sucky.

HUD FLIR looks additionally sucky bc it's a kind of hot-spot overlay and non-magnified so distant objects are difficult or impossible to recognize.
