Bimbac Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Hello ED, Would it be possible to have the ability to map the radio PTT buttons for every aircraft in the DCS to reflect the correct PTT interaction with the aircraft systems? For example, there is an indication on the DED in the F-16 when the pilot is transmitting on the particular radio (I'm not sure if there is an indication for receiving a transmission as well). The point is that most modern aircraft have visual cues to indicate the radio operation, and it would be nice to have the same functionality in DCS as well - the F-16 has this already partially implemented if the pilot transmits within the DCS comms. This feature would be handy for interaction with the external radio software like SRS or UniversRadio, not to mention the future DCS VOIP environment. Many thanks in advance!
Jonne Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 PTT buttons can be mapped in most aircraft and externally in SRS also, which I would recommend anyway, as the radio menu will not pop up. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bimbac Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 You are correct, but what I miss is the direct interaction with the DCS simulation itself - so the aircraft would provide the necessary feedback, not just the external application. Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk
Northstar98 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 As per what Jonne said, most (if not all) full-fidelity aircraft either have a PTT button or a microphone switch (typically multiple positions, with each position being PTT for a different radio). You mentioned an indicator that shows when the pilot is transmitting - I think the issue here is that DCS' native voice chat (which has PTT functionality) is still in it's early stages but it's in the plans to have it work within each aircraft's radio(s) so they'd work as they really would work IRL. Once that happens you'll be able to actually use PTT/mic switches as actual PTT/mic switches instead of just opening up the radio menu. TL;DR It's in the works for player-player comms. Bimbac Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 The SRS is generally incorporated into the most DCS airplanes already, there is just no interaction or ability to map the PTTs directly within the DCS. That's what I've been asking for. The basic functionality is already present, it just has to be enhanced - or "linked" ;)

Bimbac Posted January 22, 2020 Author Posted January 22, 2020 There is. You can set SRS to use the ingame PTT key.Indeed, but what's needed is actually the opposite - the way it's implemented in the F-14B: using DCS PTT without activating the Comms menu, but still integrating with the appropriate cockpit controls and indicators.
