oho Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 In a downloaded Mission I go to the Mission Editor and create my own waypoints on SAM-sites I want to attack. Problem is, that I can only have a Minimum of 30 meters above ground and not 0 for the bombs (which is Logical because this is the Minimum flight hight) How can I set a ground attack waypoint in the Mission Editor on the ground so that I can select it in the hornet as ground target with WPDSGT for JDAMs and JSOWs? Or do I have to edit the hight manually in the DATA-screen of each waypoint?
Darcwaynard Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Select waypoint in editor. Enter 0 in altitude and deselect altitude. Waypoint will automatically set itself to ground elevation ASL. oho Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 I tried it but it always adds 30 meters to the ground level. E.g. if the ground is 5 meters ASL if I chose ASL for the height and I enter 0 and click with left mouse button somewhere else it automatically changes the 0 the 35 meters. I would need 5 to have the correct ASL height. If I set it to AGL and I enter 0 it changes to 30. Can you help me?
Darcwaynard Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 That's weird. If I get a chance later this eve I'll do some tinkering in the ME. dorianR666 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 yes, you cannot put it lower than 30 meters above the ground in the mission editor. you might try modifying the mission file in a text editor though, its just a lua table. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X GPU: AMD RX 580
Habu_69 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I have found this little program to be really great. Prior to the flight get the desired flight plan or target waypoint coordinates from the mission map or other source. Enter the data into the program. Then, when in the cockpit, use a key combo to automatically enter that data into the mission computer. https://github.com/Santi871/DCSWaypointEditor/releases/tag/v0.9.9b2
Darcwaynard Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 So I double checked and you can absolutely have waypoints below 30 meters. I added a waypoint near the coast on Caucasus @ 14 feet with no issues. I then hopped in the cockpit. Selected the waypoint, boxed precise, pressed wpdsg and did a jdam run on the target. Target destroyed. I wonder what is causing you to have issues with the altitudes below 30m? oho Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 I found out what went wrong. It adds always 30 meters when you define one waypoint as agl. Then, also after switching to asl, it keeps adding the 30 meters for every waypoint. When you start with asl and set it to 0 it only adds the actual height, not adding the 30 meters. Now it works for me. Thank you guys anyway :)
sobe Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Habu_69 I tried the program you suggested, but could not get it to work. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I am running Helios, but I don't think that is the problem.
