We talked about the campaign, and although it's probably too early to draw direct comparisons, DSC Black Shark may be a lot like Janes LB2. Not a dynamic campaign with the computer running a sequence unseen in the background, but with triggers and events happening that are completely random and will not repeat each time you run the scenario. The triggers which are contained in the mission builders are very flexible, sophisticated, and complicated. All at once, and all surprisingly easy to use. I can foretell that trading campaigns of insidious natures will become fairly common once Black Shark is released. Mission builders take note, your dawn is close at hand.
Man oh man, can't wait :joystick:

I just wonder why nobody discusses this here, sounds quite interesting to me. Reminds me of IL2...

If DCS were to work in Linux that would be beyond awesome :worthy:, too bad almost all game developers are hung up on DX and the windows platform... :(

Without the (close to) monopoly for computer games Windows would disappear in a hurry in a lot of homes

We discussed the engines of DSC Black S, what is and what is to come. I think the best way to say this is that for now it's DX9 based, but in the future, they are going with an Open GL engine, DX10, and a multi-platform base which would include not only Windows, but Linux, etc. No details yet, but again, interesting.

For the first time in a long time I started to regain respect for ED. I'm a fighter fan so please don't point at any feature of BS:P I've pretty much gave up on Lock On not to mention BS. General LockOn issues, BS release date and this... flying?... thing in BS... lack of free time etc.

But this is it!

If not for me than for others, who stayed and who will come.

I didn' switch to Linux yet mostly because Lock On and Autodesk AutoCAD (newer vesions) are not Linux compatible. Even the ultimate CAD/CAM/CAE system UGS NX 5 supports Linux:idea: This is even more important when you take into acount Vista ridiculous... well - everything.

Maybe ED will also join those for whom the Windows Registry is evil:lookaround: and make DCS portable. I hope you know what I mean.

The other thing is switching to DX10 or OpenGL will give ED chance to make a better graphics engine with system requirements adequate to what it will present.
