loubial Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 c",) I am stunned by your creativity! On this picture, we can see two parts long and black near the rotary axe. Are they skock absorber (damper) pneumatique actuator ? ....... What are the fonction of that ? aaron886 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I was considering shock absorbers for a center-stick joystick project, but decided against because of what I assume would be a non-newtonian reaction to pressure. However, they would provide very strong resistance without a lot of constant strain to connected parts. I would like to know how well they do the job! Great stuff with the trimmer, dude, I bow to your mechanical prowess. :D
Triggerhappy69 Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 I am stunned by your creativity! On this picture, we can see two parts long and black near the rotary axe. Are they skock absorber (damper) pneumatique actuator ? ....... What are the fonction of that ? They are oil dampers from one of those huge RC offroad cars that I bought a bunch of on ebay.. It is just a way to simulate the "hydraulic feeling" that real life helicopters of this size have when you push the pedal in...? However I need to double the number of dampers or get some bigger ones. Without them it all feels a bit to mechanical compared to the real thing. to much "metal on metal" friction, and not enough of the constant resistance that a hydrailic system give you. Great stuff with the trimmer, dude, I bow to your mechanical prowess. :D Hmm... By "non-newtonian" you mean a fluids ability to solidify when preassure is applied to it? This only occures in a small number of spesific fluids as far as I know (bitumen and corn-starch being the most common ones). I guessed a hydraulic damper with the coil spring removed, if it's not to big, would mimic the feel of a hydrailic system. But I see your point if the damper size is increased..? Am I way of here? Det er en stund siden jeg har hatt noen kontakt med deg, eller noen på dette forumuet eller 504 i det hele tatt. Hvordan går det med gutta forresten? har du noen kontakt med de? Ville bare si drit bra jobba man! noen sjangs for å se noen helhets bilder av pitten? (sorry for Norwegian everybody) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
loubial Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) I have realise a benchmark about different hydraulic solution damper : -classical damper (mini bike steering damper... whith mofifyind the fluid and size off hole inside) - Rotary dashpot - Vane dashpot I relate this bench on a post on checksix forum (in french...) You can read the benchmark on the link below (with google translate...) Triggerhappy69 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 Just quickly adding some pics of the new Ejection Seat under development.. My first one gave me such a pain in my A** that I had to do something. So this time I thought I'd gp all the way and make it as correct (and confortable) as possible..! Triggerhappy69 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Thanx scud..! c",) Today I finished the parts needed to assemble the cyclic and pedal trim force mechanics (finally). There is just one thing I find so damn frustrating.. The Solenoids..! I have ordered at least three different sets of solenoids now. And for some idiotic reason I seem to end up with 24V solenoids as strong as you might need to pull back a hamsters foreskin.. ... If someone out there have an idea of what spesific to look for when I order three more, please please PLEASE speak up..! Or even better.. If you by chance are sitting on three 12v or 24v that might do the job. I'll gladly buy them from you..!? ... before I go completely mental and start electricuting myself... "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CyBerkut Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Well Trigger, to start with, let's separate the concepts of solenoids and foreskin manipulation, in the interests of safety! ;) What you may wish to examine doing, is using 120 Volt solenoids, and using relays (triggered by your lower voltage) to operate them. Good luck, and be careful! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1

I'll keep workingh on it though.. I've started working on the ejection seat drawing. The seat back to be precise.. The height of the seat from the floor, with the seat padding, will be just a bit under 30cm. But how high should the back be (measured from the top of the seat to the slots where the seat-belts come out? Any ideas 1 "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" Triggerhappy69 Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 Kevlon. I'll continue this conversation in english since we have a limited number of Norwegian speaking guys here.. Hehe. Where in London do you live? We just sold our house in Portebello Road a couple of months ago. No one was using it since "my old man, the engineer" decided to move to Abu Dhabi, and my little sister finished her play in London. I really like London.. It's such a diverse city, and it has THE very best movie theater in THE WORLD..! A small cinema called "the electric cinema" smack in the middle of Portebello road where you are seated in reclined leather seats, with a pillow to put your feet up on. And they serve drinks in the bar before and during the movie.. M-m-M..! (naturally the last row consist of seats that are twice as wide as the others for making out in..!) I moved to Stavanger now.. So just come on over mate..! "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krebs20 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) I think im sitting on about 3k Selenoids at work right now. Ill take a look at the specs and post them for you later. Best part is that i can get them for next to nothing. Work figures they might as well charge its employees next to nothing, or they will just take it. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/6C017 I think this it it. CyBerkut Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 100 Amps? Yowza! (that's 1.2 KW of power, by my calculation) Trigger, I think you can move up from hamsters to elephants (maybe even angry elephants) with that solenoid... :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Krebs20 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) We no longer use them for production. I can still get some from the obsolete area. But is it something that would be useable? I don't work for grainger. But my company orders a lot of parts from them. Why do you need a selenoid? Won't a switch or relay work? Edited June 22, 2010 by Krebs20 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Krebs20 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) I can get you them for 30 dollars each. Not much cheaper then grainger. You have a few options. http://www.pexsupply.com/White-Rodgers-120-105711-Solenoid-w-Continuous-Duty-16-Ohms-Coil-Resistance-12-VDC-Isolated-Coil 17 dollars is better than anything I can come close to. Is the cheapest of that type I found on a brief search in Google. Type. Selenoid white-rodgers And you will find alot more from the same brand. My company uses them for hydraulics on heavy equipment. They are fairly tough and used in industrial equipment. Edited June 24, 2010 by Krebs20 spelling [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
