I have been flying the Harrier more and more as of late. As much as I enjoy flying the harrier, I find the Tpod to be a bit clunky at the moment. Are there any HOTAS controls on the harrier to make the use of the Tpod more efficient. So far the only control I know of is using the TDC to slew the Pod. Are there any HOTAS controls for selecting the zoom level, NF or WF, BH or WH, Point target or area target? I seem to be getting my self more and more lost and not paying attation to my surrounding areas by needing to zoom into the screen and pressing the select buttons next to the screen to operate the pod.

Is there something I am missing, or is the Tpod just that clunky to use with the harrier??

Yes, there is a HTS mode for the TPOD. You can enter it by pressing sensor select down twice within 0.8 seconds (Note that it is down and not aft). In this mode, the sensor select switch controls various things for the TPOD. I recommend you read the relevant parts in the pocket guide for the HOTAS commands, since it can be a bit much for a comment. The only thing missing is zoom, but that is fixed with some "abstractions" for simplicity.

Also by using voice attack you can create a custom profile - by entering in a few keybinds in setup - i have everything on voice attack now down to even bring up the Tpod on the right MFD, switching it on, ccd/flir, black white, narrow / wide, lazer fire etc as well as using the SS function - handy sometimes if looking at something else in the cockpit or out the window.

the best thing i ever bought for DCS was voice attack

This is from NATOPS on the SSS in reference to the TPOD. These all refer to the SSS (Sensor Select Switch).

I have a TM Warthog HOTAS, and use on the stick the grey thumb top-hat, because it offers all the selections of the SSS on one switch.

Up and to the right of that is the DMS (Data Management Switch). I have Up and Down assigned to OSBs 3 & 4 on the right MFCD, because that's were I always have the TPOD.

Cage/Uncage is on the throttle thumb-hat.

TDC I have assigned to the slew button AND the index-finger hat on the throttle.

I can't think of anything I need to do repetitively and quickly which I don't have covered like this.

The night attack doesn't have these all of the HOTAS functionality that the radar jet does, buut in the 2+ we use the radar elevation switch to control zoom and the air program switch to fire the laser. All other sensor select switch functions are as described in the chart above except that to get out of TPOD hotas, you double down again. Going forward on the SSS would bring up the LMAV video if you were carrying one.
