I can't play it because it says my download folder doesn't have enough room... where is the download folder?

 

OK working now... at what point in the video? I don't have the time to watch 27 minutes of it.

Now tell me if you don't see the effect ?.. I understand but desagree.

No need to argue about yes or not .. Fish eye are in now we need a serious answer why by somone from ED team design.

You are looking at it through a video camera which is looking at a monitor. It doesn't represent well what you see on your own monitor. It also appears that in the video the resolution is set to a 4:3 format and it's displayed on a widescreen so the image is stretched.

 

I just re-checked on the current beta with TIR 6DOF and can confirm there is no fish eye distortion.

 

That's about all I can do and hope you will understand.

I see what you are talking about, however as you can see the zoom inside the cockpit at the beginning is a bit too far out (view like 95° or so?) If you do that you will get a fisheye effect because the 3D cockpit has concrete lines, boxes and such - the geometry will be correct drawn to your zoom but it doesn't look normal. I can't think about anything to prevent this. As a sim you need to make the right distance to HUD for example to let it look real, but it won't look the same on a 17" 5:4 or a 24" 16:10.

Sorry but it make mo sens stretch or not fish eye as nothing to do with that.

Set your view back and test it again..

And sorry but images are stronger than your words.

Distance of the sight is not a problem when the 3D cockpit is design for it.. it seems that ED is doing the same mistake as in Lockon.. i can desmonstrate it again in a video with lockon since BS didn't correct the problem.

You can't prevent to get a effect like fisheye if you have a too big view angle on a 2D monitor with a 3D cockpit. At least I don't know any way to do that unless you break the geometry of the cockpit with high view angles - but that would be probably to much for the engine to compute on a regular PC.

Or he could watch all of the videos in a row & feel re-assured in the interim through the evidence of his own eyes that that it doesn't seem to be an issue at most angles of zoom, but that if you zoom far enough out, yes, it is a noticeable effect.

 

Incidentally, that fisheye effect is a natural consequence of very wide angles of view - which is why very wide angle lenses are called fisheye lenses.

 

However, If a slight fisheye effect at very wide angles of view offends you so much perhaps you could edit the maximum angle of view down in your install.

My guess is though, if ED corrects it to 90 degrees, someone will edit their FOV to 180 .

And i will even note that All other sims do have a correct FOV in relation with the Fish eye effect but NOT Lokon and BS..

 

An example of Good FOV witch is not very Wide and have a tremandous Fish eye effect while flying

Anyway this can be discussed for a long time until we actually have the BS Sim.. I wish that this conversation doesn't turn into a defensive mode for the beta testers or other guys but instead a more constructive remarks that actually can help to prevent this problem..It is always better to prevent and fix before a product released and and not after ..

We have a good sample with the Lockon serie so why not fix them before they will do nothing about this.

Weta the closer are both ( think about it ) since it's between it's what i call a good FOV and not max and neither too close to have a feeling of flying zoomed in.

-Also post some same resolution 1600x1200, 1280x1024 or 1024x768 .

Then look at a 45 degre angle of sight right left up or down

The video does not clearly represent Black Shark as I see it on my monitor I'm afraid.

 

Did you watch the Ka-50 start-up producer note video Wags made?

 

Did you see a fisheye effect at anytime in it?

That was 1600 x 1200, but photobucket downsized it...

 

Gozr, I know what you're talking about, I just think that it's an inevitable feature of a wide angle of view (wider than the intended angle of view) rendered in 3d, & from what I've seen in videos I don't think it will be a significant problem at normal viewing angles in BS...

Which hopefully you've re-assured yourself of by watching producers' note 1

Urze this is a beautiful pit, Thanks to post this, Great Thank you.. Now i wonder if Iron can do a quick video panning up down r and L with just 10 % wider max. it seems that it's the limit as you can see that when trying to pull back his head .. up down are limit as well.

 

 

Now a note concerning a remark made earlier.." Digital Combat Simulator Black Shark as iron said.. but when loading the mission or map it say "GAME" Loading ... ;) Humm!

 

This is a great pit no doubt.
