I don't quite know what you mean?

 

If you're talking about them being offset to the side, that is correct for the real aircraft.

All to do with HMI (Human Machine Interface) to differentiate them from the keypad keys. You will also notice that the ENTR button is higher than the rest to assist with location without looking.

 

I personally have an ICP box in VR and having the offset/raised layout makes it very easy to swiftly press all the correct buttons with no visual reference.
