OK, to try fixing my weird shadows moving problem, I thought I'd try NVIDIA's Surround mode for my 3 monitors. With Surround I've got NVIDIA using my 3 monitors as one very large 5760x1080 monitor now. When I tried DCS using 1Screen and that large resolution, I get a DX11 Renderer Error. Looks like this...

Shader "bazar/shaders/deferred/blurCompute.fx" failed to

compile. Reason:

warning X4717: Effects deprecated for D3DCompiler_47

error X4586: The total amount of group shared memory (34560

bytes) exceeds the cs_5_0 limit of 32768 bytes

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS

World\bazar\shaders\deferred\blurCompute.fx(73,20-60): There

was an error compiling expression

How does this work with DCS?? Do you use 1Camera.lua or 3Camera.lua?? I could use some help guys - Can anyone share your settings that's using a 3-monitor setup with NVIDIA's Surround Mode?? ChuckIV

I have a triple monitor setup and don't use surround in DCS. I just setup as 1 monitor @5780x1080 and it works great on all three.

Performance on Surround is worse than using the one large monitor option described above. Not with the effort in my experience.

Screen Shot of 1Camera.lua file??

Austin/OverAlien,

What file are you using (1Camera.lua or 3Cameras.lua)?? I assume 1Camera.lua. Could you attach a screen shot of the 1Camera file you are using so I can see how you set it up? In another thread, someone suggested that using SSAA is a problem. Must set this to zero?? Thanks, ChuckIV

Sorry guys I am with Chuck here. What exactly do you do to make 1 monitor option work?

For the record I have 3 27 inch monitors and use Nvidia surround to make them 5760*1080.

If there is a better way then please could you spell it out.

Thanks

OK, so I set SSAA to zero and that allowed DCS to start up again. Having my center monitor be a little larger than the two on the sides I think is causing my problem with the weird shadows moving across my main screen. Setting all resolutions to 1920x1080, the only thing I can do with a 3Camera setup is adjust the viewDx and viewDy settings as well as the x and y values to try matching up the 3 screens the best I can. It's not perfect, but it will have to do for now. If all 3 monitors are exactly the same monitors, and using 3Camera.lua file, that provides the best overall experience I think. Of course, your computer would have to be able to handle the extra pixels. (3 times the load!!) ChuckIV

Out of curiosity, what kind of FPS gain would you get if switching from surround?

I've always used surround to enable bezel correction but I would maybe give that up if performance boost was significant enough.

It is hard to say and depends on the latest version of DCS. I have seen FPS in the hundreds in the past with my 3 camera setup, but that was long ago. I wouldn't even consider doing it now. One big screen for DCS, one screen for gauges is what I run now.

Bezel correction is just added dead space for the physical bezel's.

If you want to see how it runs, just do it.

The reason I use bezel correction is because my bezels are big and ugly, 90 pixels each. At the time when I bought my kit there were no slim bezel LED TV's on the market so had to go with what I could get and afford (3 x Samsung 40"). With such big bezels my view just looks wrong if I don't use bezel correction.

I get 60 to 110 FPS with my rig, using Surround (1 Camera view) and with Helios running on the outer 2/3's of my left and right screens. Having to run mostly medium/low graphics settings to get those frame rates which is why I was curious.

My rig:- i7-3930K @ 3.8 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 2 x GTX970 in SLI, 450 GB SSD, WIN 10 Home 64 Bit. Built in 2011, so showing its age a bit.

Sure I can try it myself but wondered if someone could give me an idea of performance boost beforehand to save me the effort if it's not really worth it. I'm guessing it probably won't gain me that much performance boost at all, which is why I asked.

Im trying do do a stacked config for 2 monitors so that would make 2 cameras.. does your setup also have distortion that makes the other monitor get distorted when zoomed-out? DOes Nvidia Surround fix that?
