fatboy Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Hi guy's and Gals, I downloaded a mod to give the canopy cleaner glass so I could see a bit better. I seem to have well and truly buggered something up.The Cockpit is now in russian and the drop down menu is gone so i cant choose cockpit choices. I uninstalled the mod and tried many different things to get the english back but it just wont do it. I made sure in the gameplay settings i had english and metric set but no luck .I also tried the repair dcs world in the start menu but it still doesn't work, i did that twice!. I Have never repaired DCS before but i thought that when you did a repair you had to save all your settings ,logbook ,joystick bindings etc because when you did a repair it gets rid of all files that are not from original DCS. I then Uninstalled the module then reinstall it ,still didn't work. Anyway obviously i have done something stupid and this is technically not a bug but i was hoping that someone could help me out, Thank You .:helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie: MODULES: A10C Warthog,AH-64 D APACHE,AJS Viggen,AV8B Harrier,BF109 K4,C101 Aviojet,F14 Tomcat,F15E Eagle,F16 Viper,F5 Tiger,F86 Sabre,FA18C Hornet,FW190A8,FW190D9,I16 Ishak,JF17 Thunder,KA50 Blackshark,L39Albatros,Mirage2000C,Mirage F-1,MI24P,MI8MVT2,MIG15BIS,MIG19P,MIG21BIS,Mosquito FB VI,P51D Mustang,P47D Thunderbolt,SA342 Gazell,SpitfireIX,TF51D,UH1H Huey,Yak52. Rudel_chw Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Go into /saved games/dcs.openbeta/liveries/ Once there, look for a folder named "Mig-21_CP" Rename it to something else, for example Mig-21_CP.bak Start dcs again and check if the problem is solved or not. fatboy Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Heu Rudel, Thank's very much for your help. I did what you asked and renamed the folder Mig-21_CP.bak but it didn't work. Also my Mig-21_CP folder was in the folder called saved games/dcs.openbeta/liveries/MiG-21bis/liveries/Mig-21_CP ,It wasn't in the folder you mentioned.Could that be a Problem perhaps? For the MiG-21 there are two parts that you can skin: The aircraft outside skins, go into saved games/dcs.openbeta/liveries/MiG-21bis/ The aircraft interior skins, go into saved games/dcs.openbeta/liveries/MiG-21_CP/ Seems that you have them mixed up, use windows file manager to fix this and get the folders as above. Art-J Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 To clear things up, DCS repair and cleanup commands affect ONLY the main game folder and they do NOT even touch the Saved Games folder. Thus, if they, or reinstalling the aircraft didn't help, the problem clearly lies somewhere in the Saved Games location indeed. Trial-and-error method (removing suspect folders one by one) is the only way, although as Rudel suggests, I'd start with anything MiG-21 related. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Rudel_chw Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I did what you said and put folders where they are supposed to be and named them correctly but still no luck. To better illustrate how these folders should like, this is the one I have for the outside model skins: Of course, you may have different individual liveries, but the general layout should be like this, with one livery on each sub-folder. And this is the one for the inner model (cockpits): If you still can't get it to work, I suggest renaming the Mig-21_CP folder, and see if that clears up the problem. fatboy Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 It's Fixed,:clap::clap: It turned out to be some files somehow got placed in the main DCS directory and one of them was a lua file that i think was the culprit.I deleted them and accidentally deleted a DCS file so it wouldn't start up. So i did another Repair and it all works again :clap_2::clap_2::clap_2: Thank you very much guy's for the help.
