Hello everyone!

I'm sort of new to DCS & wanted to introduce myself, as I plan to be on the forum quite a bit; reading mostly, but asking for advice when needed.

I used to play flight sims back in the late 90s, mostly A-10 Silent Thunder II and F-22 Lightning 2. Pretty crappy compared to DCS, but they were a lot of fun back then.

I originally tried DCS on Steam in 2014. I bought the F-15C and A-10A modules during a sale, then pulled out my old Thrustmaster Mark I FCS & throttle. Turned out that they no longer worked, so I tossed them (kind of regret that) and forgot about DCS for several years.

I'm a huge fan of the Hornet and seeing that the F/A-18C module is available pushed me to get back into it, so I ordered a Logitech X56 a few days ago. I decided to play around with the F-15C until the joystick arrives in a few weeks (so glad that my Steam keys were transferable).

Then I saw the awesome sale. I picked up the Hornet/Supercarrier/Su-33 package, the F-16C, Nellis range and the Aggressors/Red Flag campaigns for the F-15C & Hornet. I think that ought to keep me busy for quite some time.

I've probably rambled on too much, but I'm just quite excited to play a good flight sim. I look forward to participating on the forum and perhaps make a few friends in the process.

Welcome!

In your main DCS folder, there are extensive and well laid out manuals for all of your aircraft, you can usually find them under

<DCS Root>/Mods/aircraft/<module name>/Doc/

I would highly recommend that you give these a cursory glance over. At least know where to find them, and perhaps you can search them later.

They will show you all relevant controls, procedures, and features to make the most of out them...

...keep in mind for many of your "early access" products, a full manual will be replaced by an early access guide, as features and procedures will not be complete.

Do yourself a favor and check them out some time, you won't regret it! It's one of the features you paid for when you bought these modules

Welcome Dr_Wigglespank,

You are in for some fun! Starting when a crazy sale is going on doesn't hurt either. Chuck's guides are also a great help too but i think he only does guides for high fidelity modules. If you have any problems don't hesitate to post on the forum and ask for help. Tons of people will be only too happy to help, it's a great community. Best of luck and happy flying!!! :pilotfly:

Here's chucks guides link for you,

Thank you both for the welcome, and especially for the great tips on the manuals and guides.

There's so much to learn, and as I have time waiting for my joystick, I hope to be up on things once it does arrive. Thankfully, the F-15C is somewhat flyable with the KB, so I can familiarize myself with the cockpit and KB commands while doing basic flying.

Welcome ! You'll find this place very helpful. I'm new to DCS too actually the whole gaming world. I also played F22 Lightning 3 from Novalogic and Comanche Gold back in the days and it was super fun meeting up with people are flying late nights... sometimes until the sun came up... haha. I already know from research the learning curve for DCS and I'm welling to put in the hours to learn at my ripe age of 55....wow! hey gotta keep that brain going man. I think I will be starting out with Flaming Cliffs 3 mod as aa FNG and probably get the F18 to learn the real stuff....maybe the F14 after watching Grim Reapors youtube video yesterday and others. Oh well I'm starting babble to so anywho Welcome to the forum.
