A2A interests me a hell of a lot more purely for the fact that competing against AI is zero competition, I don't fly A2A offline purely for this fact, if I fly online its against real-unpredictable-dynamic-opponents.

VFighterpilots skills are perishable for the very reason that your senses should be sharpened to adjust instantly to the un-expected which you will only get against skilled pilots.

Just after a week of not flying intense A2A you know it, after 2weeks the noobs know it, as for AI I could take 6 months out and still kick they're dull sorry ass.

A2G is just as tough but doesn't require anywhere near the commitment required that it takes to make A2A teamplay work succesfully.

I love A2G but I also enjoy other games, A2A is my drug as I thrive on intense competition.:)

Does anyone else besides me fly air to air offline? Does anyone fly combat flight sims offline but me?

I only do a little practice offline for A2A. For the most part, I fly against live opponents. No comparison to AI.

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Oh well, I'm probably in the minority seeing as how many of the people here are from Lockon. Competition and challenge as a part leisure activities is a whole 'nuther thread altogether. No further derailment from me.

I do - & the online community is actually the minority - think how many copies get sold, vs how many people play online.

Cheers.

Or how many ppl PLAYS it actually and not making it a dust residence.

I believe lots of ppl are not playing it anymore..

I have this sim since the first days it released..

Played some. (maybe 2-3 months) with very low res and all settings lowest..

And uninstalled it..

If i didnt drop into the lockontr by pure chance, it was still at the shelf getting old..I bet we have lots of "Relockoner"'s here...

And i think online community have a huge effect on AA or AG aspects of the game. Servers are a real "airquake" as someone said. I see only one server on the AG side of the game. Maybe we should do more "events" like RedFlag that really focuses on AG aspect. I was not intrested in AG before i started the A-10 project. But now i see that its soo much fun. But the enemy is AI on ground not human..And that changes a lot..On AA you deal with humans which adds an incredible immersion to the game..

My point is. AG is underrated in online games but with logical reasons.

I only fly offline against AI to test my evasion techniques. Often a dozen or so oponents VS me and an AI wingman to play chicken with missiles in a death gauntlet. Some human oponents are harder to defeat than a 6-1 disavantage against AI.

You could say the same of people who play online - people who were regulars here for a year or two then moved on...

After asking at work I found 3 others in my office who use flightsims - none of them fly online or take part in any online forums.

Cheers.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I figured that online flyers were the minority overall, as is usually the case with any type of thing that can be played online or off, but I realized that most of the people on these boards probably did multiplayer.
