One cool thing about TrackIR though is that you can really customize it. I'm not familiar with his little "wiiware" but I know that you can adjust the curves of what each motion of your head does in the game with TIR. If the wii thing doesn't let you do that, then the old FAQ question of not looking at the screen will be very valid. I dunno, I have TIR4 and I'm very happy with it, I'll be using it for years to come and I couldn't fly without it.

Of course! So the question is do TrackIR's software support this in 6DOF games? If so, i'll buy it immediately:joystick:

2 RedTiger: Do you own TrackIR? Can you setup it so it works exactly like in video?

Absolutely agree with you about buying commercial product instead of building something ugly looking myself and spending time to get it work.

I can explain what TrackIR does, but a better thing to do would be to go to:

http://www.naturalpoint.com/

and check out the demo videos they have there. Youtube also has tons of videos people have made showing of TrackIR.

In short, yes, if the game is 6DOF you can do what that guy did in the video. In Black Shark, you can peer around cockpit struts. You can look around the HUD and see how it is made of 2 pieces of glass. In MSFS you can duck under the dash to flip switches. You can get up out of your chair to look over the nose of your plane. The effect is exactly like what you saw in the video.

Even if you DON'T have a game with 6DOF (like Lockon), TrackIR is still HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The main advantage you get is the ability to look around by moving your head. It frees up a hat switch and makes padlocking obsolete.

I saw many videos on TrackIr. The main thing I dislike is necessity to move your eyes to one side, while turning head to another.

In this video interaction with displayed 3d space occurs in absolutely natural way. Ingame perspective fits the one in real world.

You will still need to do the same with this gadget... the TV is still in same place same as your monitor so you still need to turn your head one way while your eyes go the other way :smilewink: What he's shown s that your perspective is changing as if you move your head left or right or in and out... not rotating it... and this works exactly the same with TrackIR.

If you have your TrackIR set up the way I do, you're literally moving your head about 2 or 3 cm in any direction. To look straight up through the top of the canopy, you'd move your head up about as far as you would when you casually nod "yes". You're eyes would stay fixed on the monitor while you move your head.

All this is fully customizable.

I just finished a Free track setup using a Logitech web cam. after tunning it in on the FerrTrack freeware it move just fine not as smoth as TrackIr but still works with 6DOM all ajustable. Have tested in ArmA and FS9 with little troble just need some fine tuning. (not as good as TrackIr).

Cost counting the webcam (witch most people already have)$52.76 and that includes enough parts to make the 3 LED head set and 3 LED hat setup. batterys included.

This will keep me happy till I can aford the TrackIr. I will post a video on YouTub in the next day or so.
