Diesel_Thunder Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I have an issue that just started with the last update. I'm on Steam stable 2.5.5.41371. A-10C looks like it was updated on April 8th. Easy Communication is not checked. During my startup process, after I start my APU and put it's generator online, I'll set my radio. I'm taking off from Kobuleti, and set the VHF accordingly, 133 MHz. ATC never responds to any of my calls, engine startup, taxi or takeoff requests. They will call me if I start moving. Here's a short track of it happening. It worked before the update. Am I doing something wrong or could this be a bug?a-10c ATC.trk PC: MSI X670E, Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3090 Ti, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Flight pedals, Opentrack Link to my Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DieselThunderAviation Commander, 62nd Virtual Fighter Squadron Join the 62nd VFS today! atomtomgo Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Just to make sure: Are you using "Mic switch forward" to contact tower with your VHF AM radio?
Diesel_Thunder Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 You must have the Apu gen power ON and then ATC answer to you APU gen power was on, it's part of my checklist and workflow when I'm doing a cold and dark ramp start. Yurgon Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Here's a short track of it happening. It worked before the update. Am I doing something wrong or could this be a bug? For the first two attempts to get cleared for startup, you were using the Intercom, according to the radio call overlay. I also didn't see the Mic Switch on the throttle moving in any direction. Make sure to use the proper switches: - HOTAS Mic Switch Forward: VHF AM (aka "Front") - HOTAS Mic Switch Down: UHF AM (aka "Mid") - HOTAS Mic Switch Aft: VHF FM (aka "Aft") You could probably hear the ATC because you were on the proper freq, but you couldn't talk to him because you were only keying the Intercom. I'm not aware of any changes lately in this regard. After that I took control of the replay, used Mic Switch Forward to request startup over the VHF AM radio and was immediately cleared by ATC. You must have the Apu gen power ON and then ATC answer to you So OP gives a good textual description where he explicitly states he has APU and APU Gen On, and he also posts a track where he made sure we can clearly see that he does indeed switch on Battery, Inverter, APU, APU Generator, and also properly sets up the correct radio - and this is your best advice? Did you even take one minute to read the first post? Seriously, this is one of the best problem descriptions I've read on this forum in a long time. It is short, to the point, includes all necessary information, and it already comes with a track. Is it really too much to ask to look at the track before posting an answer?

I just remapped one of my HOTAS switches to be the MIC switch and it worked! Thank you for that  Before whatever update came in, all I had to do was set the radio and then hit the backslash key to bring up the comms menu. Now I have to actually use the proper control. :) Seriously, this is one of the best problem descriptions I've read on this forum in a long time. It is short, to the point, includes all necessary information, and it already comes with a track. Thank you for the kind words :). I'm an Electronics Technician (active duty USCG) by trade. In fixing various systems, simplifying the troubleshooting process helps quite a bit. Giving the pertinent details, what it's doing or not doing, and what steps you've taken helps that process a lot. And usually gets your systems back up and running sooner in most cases, unless your waiting for parts.
