Lack of training missions files

Recommended Posts

Hello, I bought F-16C near week ago, and I noticed that I have only two training missions.

After forum research I checked game files and I have only two files of training missions

(at location:

common > DCSWorld > Mods > aircraft > F-16C > Missions > Training).

There I have following files only:

Lesson 2- Aircraft Startup

Lesson 3 - Taxi and Takeoff

lessons

What should I do to have all of those?

You could install DCS Openbeta .. it has a lot more training missions ... but please, please ... don't do it, if you cant stand the additional bugs that the Open beta version has :)

Thank you for that advice, I'll propably try that.

I don't know if thats caused by early acces and those are not avalible yet (without beta or sth) or is that a real problem.

If that doesn't help I will wait for technical suport, but I'm new in community so I don't know if they can read this.

reminder that "install" in this case does not mean a new download, and does not mean a 2nd copy of the program on your machine. When you are ready for the more "current" but less "stable" version of the software, you apply an update to your current software. You can store 2 different versions of the same game if you want, but it's not required!

It's not down to early access, it's down to you running the stable release and not the open beta.

Don't want to get into Open Beta, at the same time DCS modules are complicated enough that I'd need some handholding with comprehensive training chapters.

Guess I'll have no choice but to uninstall this one, good thing I chose Hornet over this when the sale was on (both cost the same). Any particular reason F-16 tuts are open beta exclusive? The software updates can wait till stabilization, but a mission created cannot be that buggy, right?

Stable hasn't had an update in a while (since 24th of Dec) because of the large changes to Open Beta recently and all the bugs that need to be addressed before a new stable build can be pushed. The missions would be rolled out as part of that update, there hasn't been an update so you have no new missions.

I wouldn't bother uninstalling the F-16, just leave it where it is and check back after the next stable update. The fact of running Stable is that you will always be way behind the curve compared to the people running Open Beta, at this point something like 4 months, and in the early development of a module like the F-16, a lot can happen in that time.

Theoretically the missions should work. But I haven't tested it.

Most likely, the training missions make use of F-16 features added recently.

Perhaps you could try YT Tutorials? .. I've learned a lot watching them with a notepad on hand :book:

I'm running stable and these files, whilst in the 'correct' folder, do not show up in the in-game Training menu.

For that matter I don't have any training missions for any aircraft in said Training menu. It's literally empty! I only realised this cause I thought I'd try out the Farmer on demo today and whilst there are training missions downloaded with the module, they don't show in game. But I have no aircraft training sessions showing in game, even my purchased modules. What is going on? Can anyone advise? Revised folder structure, or is there currently no folder structure working for training missions?

Since come to my attention that my purchased campaigns are not showing in the campaigns menu either. Definitely downloaded them sometime ago after purchasing and they show as active modules in the modules info in-game but not appearing in correct menu. Can anyone help advise please?

Hello,

I took a look and you have quite a few strange things, for example:

a) You are loading several obsolete Mods, from your Saved Games:

b) You have a strange mess on the sounds of the cockpits of the F-5E, tangled with the Mig-19P .. perhaps a couple of sound mods installed in an incorrect way? The Sound Mods must now be designed specifically for DCS 2.5.6 .. older sound mods wont work without updating them.

c) It seems that you've disabled the Caucasus Map .. that would explain the Training problem, as most aircraft have their training missions set on that Map.

You have so many problem points that I would suggest two actions:

1) Run a DCS_Updater Repair .. this will delete any Mod that you may have on the program's folder.

2) Rename your C:\Users\Darren\Saved Games\DCS folder ... say, rename it to DCS.bak .. then run DCS again and it will build you a new DCS folder with default values. From DCS.bak recover only the DCS\Config\folder and \DCS\MissionEDitor\logbook.lua

Those two operations will return your DCS install to a brand new status ... of course, you wont have any User Mods .. those will have to be re-installed, try to install those one-by-one, testing between each to see if they do work with no trouble.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Thank you for assessment of my log file and your guidance based on this. I've followed your advice and it has helped me to understand the problems as I deal with each item of user content.

I thought I might highlight one observation that has become apparent to me during this process for benefit of anyone else experiencing similar issues: The .cmp file is the information used to sequence all individual component files used for a campaign. If that .cmp file is corrupted or not scripted correctly (which can be the case with user made content), then the whole of that aircraft's campaigns (including purchased campaigns) will not show in the campaign menu folder.

This was an issue for me and resolved by deleting that campaign once testing demonstrated that there was a fault.

Thanks again Eduardo!
