AGM-154 listed incorrectly

Currently the AGM-154 JSOW is catagorized under "AG Missiles", while it is in fact not a missile but a glide bomb (as it has no engine/rocket motor of sorts) and should thus be listed under "Bombs" and not "AG Missiles"

While that is correct, the AGM-62 Walleye is also listed under bombs which is technically the same type of munition, a glide bomb

I think the major impact is that only Missiles can be engaged by ground units.

 

Which honestly should not be the case. Any ground unit should be able to engage any weapon within their launch envelope as long as it has enough RCS, Visual or IR signature.

And yes while the M in AGM means missile, the JSOW is weird in that it doesn't really line up with the definition of missile, which as I understand it, is a guided, powered munition. As the JSOW has no propulsion of its own, it should be more appropriate to list it under bombs like the Walleye.

 

And yes, all weapons that systems can track and engage should be able to be done so in DCS; CIWS at least should be able to engage bombs and larger unguided rockets.
