CommandT Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I'm astonished this hasn't been developed already as it would be a super straight forward tool requiring almost no man hours and adding a huge amount of possibilities for formation flying. Basically I'd like to be able to record a flight then play it back as an AI plane so I could then follow that plane as a wing man. It would mean you could create your own formation aerobatics displays in single player and not having to deal with another person's flying skills or internet connection lag. 1
Keith_GadgetUK Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I'm sure this is already in game. Look at the mission review options once the mission is over. It plays back the mission and with the F2 key you can select the other aircraft external viewpoints.
Fri13 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Doesn't exist in the DCS. In the car driving simulators/games it is the "Ghost" mode, similar as in some platformer games where you can be racing against your own performance. I suggested few years ago the similar thing, that we could fly and then make it as "Ghost" that we then can fly with another aircraft, this to train in air combat etc. But I as well wished that we would get a "Start Record / Stop Record" function where we could in replay or even in the flight start and stop recording a segment of the flight and save it as maneuver. Then we could recall that saved maneuver later on for the AI to perform as accurately as it just could by its current capabilities. Meaning that if you perform a maneuver at 450 km/h speed, at 1500 m altitude and 30% fuel, then the AI can't do that same maneuver at 1300 km/h speed at 10 000 m altitude and 85% fuel. But it would find the principle of the maneuver and try to apply it, like if I fly horizontal circle by turning 425 degrees in total, then the AI will try to fly that 425 degree circle horizontally as well as it can. This would mean that we could create a libraries of the various maneuvers, and then trigger AI to perform them. With some level the AI can accelerate or decelerate at fairly good level to match the required energy etc. This would also allow us to create a AI flights where wingmens would perform specific kind maneuvers together. Like when you launch missile against them, they could perform the crossing snaking etc to confuse BVR guidance logic and so on. It would as well allow to make very fancy videos when you could fly each aircraft, replay it as ghost and fly second one, and then go to replay and record video from multiple AI's flying each your recorded patterns. 1 i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Xilon_x Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 have the possibility to play in your registration, and then again to play in the registration of the registration, and then again in the registration of the registration of the registration, and so on etc. etc. It would make it so easy to accomplish missions that there would not even be a need for the mission editor.
Xilon_x Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 in dcs there is no recording player but you have to do everything from the keyboard. play x2 x3 x4 slow motion x2 x3 x4 but there is no revert play there is no rewind there is no loop and very nice to analyze a mission an acrobatic flight a sequence of accident and something missing in DCS
