Kenan Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 I think they should be a lot darker. Always have to put cloud base and stuff to make it really dark. :D Will this be fixed in 1.1 or you think it's ok as it is? :?: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . Drakkhen Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Except on "New Moon" nights, if the sky is clear, you see something at night, and with eye habituation to darkness, the Moon light can be sufficient to see pretty far and pretty well. That was a problem on OFP where nights were full dark while in real world, by a "Full Moon", you can see very precise shadows of objects. Caretaker Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Realistic night lighting is a complicated issue; most sims fall somewhat short here. I'm a big fan of pitch black nights when it applies myself, but I acknowledge it's quite some work to get it right. It would also be nice if AI units had the same visibility problems then as the player does ;) Caretaker ED Beta Test Team
Mimes Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Must be admitted - ED achieved unbelievable level of realism with their lighgting coding - no other game ever comes even close to the feeling of landing at night with lights on in Lomac. When I experienced it for the first time, I had to keep reminding myself it was a game - it looked so real. :D P.S. - I adjust the monitor brightness untill I am happy about how "dark" it is outside... Kind regards, Mimes "Joined forum in 2004 but flying Flanker since 1995 :o)"
ThirdELTPoznan Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Yeah I agree they are to bright, I make them darker by setting (this thing before time) GROM- Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno Manewrowego
Drakkhen Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Hmmm, I don't wanna rain on your parade but I've seen brighter ones in real life, particularily one night landing on Paris-Roissy airport after a durable coldand dry north wind day without a single cloud that clarified the air so much we could see almost all stars from Paris!!! Most of the time, I agree that visual range is a bit shorter but who can do more can do less, using fog for example. JG27_Arklight Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 I agree with the people above. The nights are too bright. The night in LOMAC has always been a sore subject for me. To be blunt, I think it sucks. Drako_MDx Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 For those of you who think your night is too bright you might want to learn how to setup your Contrast, Brightness, and Gamma. In my setup the nights look as they should,"Dark as Hell...LOL". There are software and templates you can use to setup your color and Brightness levels to a more realistic setting.

Guest ruggbutt Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 I used to think that they were too bright too. Then I bought a new monitor and they are as black as the inside of my eyelids.......lol. I'm not saying that you need a new monitor, but I did and I couldn't get it set up anymore as it was over 3 years old.
