When you fire a Maverick, the next Maverick is bore sighted. Is this intentional ?

On the A-10, I know different platform, ect.... when you fire a Maverick, the next one is slewed to where, you fired your previous one.

I suppose the advantage of auto-going back to boresight after firing a Mav is that we can then quickly engage a different target (eg another tank in a tank group).

The disadvantage is that a tough target (eg warship, factory etc) needs more than one Mav hit to nobble it, so it can be a bit of a chore having to lock it up all over again.

That would have been an advantage, if it didn't boresight, this mean you have to point your aircraft directly at what you are shooting at exposing you to risk

That's the way it is and I hate it. I have enough trouble getting a lock w/ that crappy picture on the Mav screen. It would be a lot better if it stayed where it was so I only need a slight movement to lock up the next helicopter or truck. Before I got the slew working I just bore sighted the Mav like I would a rocket, hit a lock button and then fired. I can do that a lot faster than the slew procedure. I keep running one of the supplied FA-18 Caucuses mission where I am supposed to hit some of a bunch of helicopters parked at the air field. So much time is wasted getting a lock that I have yet to get through that mission alive.

Check it- I've been attacking this Rezky with Maverick 'F's', and it begins locking me up with its radar (ominous beeps) at around 7 miles and lets a SAM fly shortly after (terrifying rapid beeps).

So because the Mav's lockon range is also about 7 miles I have to launch a single Mav and then immediately U-turn to get the hell out before SAMs start coming up at me a few seconds later.

My point is that I'd dearly LURV to launch several Mavs in quick succession whoosh-whoosh-whoosh-whoosh at 1 second intervals before turning tail, but we can't do that because after every launch the Mav goes back to boresight, meaning we have to manoeuvre the locking triangle over the bloody ship and lock it up all over again which takes several seconds per missile, so to fire 4 Mavs would take around 20 seconds in the face of his incoming SAMS which would be suicide.

Or am I doing something wrong. Feel free to post your comments, spiritual advice and death threats here, thanks..:)

Lets not mix a questions and discussion with wanting to change something, because it is hard to do ! I want to make this clear, all I want to know if this is intentional or not and it to be as realistic as possible.

From what I heard, the main reason there are even IR Mavericks is for fast attack boats defense of the carrier. So, there are other weapons to take on such ships.

Maverick boresight has to be done, because the seeker can break if it hits its limitation really fast, as when executing a sharp manuever.
