ebabil Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I hit accidentally to this button and all my bombs had "erase" sign. I couldn't use them at all. How can I revert this and why does even this option exist? Pike Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 It is fixed by a mechanic on the ground. It intentionally bricks the weapons.
Tholozor Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Most modern fighters will have some type of 'Erase' or 'Zeroize' function, which erases sensitive information such as IFF encryption, GPS keys, etc. These functions are usually performed automatically if the pilot ejects, however in a more controlled ejection, pilots are advised to zeroize their aircraft before punching out. In the case of JDAM and JSOW, let's say a store becomes hung, or somehow presents itself as a danger to the aircraft, and must be jettisoned. A pilot is advised to zeroize the weapon before jettisoning, to ensure any sensitive data is erased. ebabil Posted April 25, 2020 Author Posted April 25, 2020 So so revert back? At least it could have a code to be entered. I bricked 7 jdams by clicking a button FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 | Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60 Youtube MS FFB2 - TM Warthog - CH Pro Pedals - Trackir 5
Harker Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 So so revert back? At least it could have a code to be entered. I bricked 7 jdams by clicking a buttonThere's no way for the pilot to fix it, AFAIK. It's not something that a numerical code can revert, it's a digital key. You might as well consider the weapon a dud from that point on. Also, you clicked two buttons, not one. ERASE and Accept. After you press ERASE, you can either accept or cancel. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
