I need a new monitor and either buying a new gaming PC, gaming laptop, or upgrading my old system.

Either way I go, I need a new monitor. So the the question is Dual 27's, curved 34 or 43 gaming monitor? Or one monitor with a laptop gaming PC and using the display on the laptop? Are these curved monitors worth the extra money? Not concerned about cost right now. Looking at the Dell and Alienware monitors so far...

I currently run 3 27" monitors: 27" Viotek GFT27DB. They are 1440p 144Hz gaming monitors w/FreeSync. You need a stout system to push them at acceptable frame-rates in DCS but short of VR I don't think you can get better immersion. On Amazon they list for $269 so they are really well priced for what they can do. I've been very happy with them.

3 monitors? Do you need 2 video cards in SLI? How do you run a 3 monitor setup? Is there anything you need to do in the game?

I have 1 EVGA Nvidea 2070 Super. It has 3 display port outputs. It's not like in the old days of gaming on multiple monitors. DCS supports the resolution natively and it seamlessly adapts to the setup. I don't have to even enable Nvidea's special feature to use 3 monitors as 1, like you do in some games. I just set the resolution in DCS at 7680x1440 and it runs just fine.

I should probably mention that while I have played full missions of IL-2 BoX on high graphics settings without any issues. I have not yet flown a loaded up mission of DCS. I've been waiting on my upgraded flight sim gear to get in so I only have to plan 1 control setup and learn only 1 control setup, so I can't say for certain if DCS in mission will give me any problems or not.

I do have a water cooled Core I9 9900k running at 5Ghz though.

This hobby is going to send me into the poor house. Is this a better setup than one 43" curved fast monitor?

I don't know. I've never used a curved 43" monitor, so I don't have a point of reference. I think it is a matter of personal preference. I've seen reviewers that prefer a single ultra-wide monitor. I had people who said that is the way I should go.

What I can say for certain is that each of my monitors viewing area measures 24" x 13.5". So the total is 70" x 13.5". The total resolution when I play a game is 7680x1440 and max refresh rate is 144hz. Depending on the game I usually manage in excess of 60fps. I have no problems running IL-2 BoX at high graphics settings and get great frame rates.

Here is a review for the monitor I have:

You'll need to do your own research and decide for yourself. It was not an easy decision for me to reach. I want to say I spent at least 6 months researching and weighing the pro's and con's of each side before I reached my decision. It is a personal choice. Part of the reason behind my decision was money. To get the same kind of screen real estate as I have now, at similar resolutions would have cost me an extra $200.

I bought this monitor in June 2019 and still love it.... just a datapoint.. good luck choosing.

It wasn't inexpensive though... still don't regret the purchase as I was running 3 older 1920x1200 Dell monitors in 3x1 format before buying this.

ViewSonic Elite XG350R-C 35” UltraWide 21:9 Curved 1440p 100Hz RGB Gaming Monitor with FreeSync HDR10

I also run a Dell 24" touchscreen above this monitor just so I can see other things running while running stuff full screen on the ViewSonic

You should first make up your mind on what kind of experience you want from the monitor regarding everyday use and for DCS.

There are standard 16:9 wide monitors (the same aspect ratio as TVs like e.g. 27", 32", 40", 43" sizes), there are ultra-wides (like 34" and 35" with a 1440 vertical resolution so basically a wider 27" QHD monitor or the newer 37.5" with a higher 1600 vertical) and then there are super-ultra-wides like e.g. Samsung CRG9 49" with a 1440 vertical resolution (the other models are 1080 only) which is basically equal to having two 27" QHD monitors connected.
